LT1 + LU5? what needs to happen?
I do not know if i am in the right section for this but here goes anyways. I have an 82 trans am with the LU5 Crossfire injection 305 all stock. sitting next to it is an LT1 all stock motor. how do i take the block from the LT1 and put that under the Crossfire set up? convert the opti for starters got that, exhaust no brainer, intake im getting a renegade. Just getting ideas going been a while since i havn't touched this car in three years. thanks.

So you're going to keep the ECM with the least programming / tuning support?
And outdated air/fuel distribution.
And you're going to take off port fuel injection to do it?
If you're just hell bent on keeping the Crossfire, you should just use a Vortec 350; and manage with an 89-92 `746 ECM or the same-but 1 or 2 wires different truck `747 ECM. The parts bolt right together except intake manifold bolt pattern, and you can keep 94.44% of the 1982 stuff.
If you don't care about the Crossfire, the LT1 is a good contemporary engine (no LS_ engine, but it's still plenty good) and you can get a complete takeout for cheap these days if that's what you want. Go with a 95 F-body (Better AC compressor clearance than B-body) and keep the 4L60-E along with most 95 stuff.
Yeah, "this is what I have" and your time is free and all that. But just . . . no.
