i swap an entire 98 z into an 88 iroc. it was running fine for a while. i went to pull it out of the garage, started it up, turned the headlights on and it died. started it back up and ran fine. i tried my turn signals, left nothing happened, right signal, car died. so i started it back up and just tried the right signal again and it dies. it didnt sputter, just cut off. now it wont start at all.

i also noticed i had a CEL on so i scanned it and it gave me p0102(maf).

WTF ??? lol

what the maf be related to the engine cut out??
and why would it die when one turn signal is on but not the other?

Check the wiring for the R turn signals, they come on when the head lights come on and when the turn signal is used, could have a short.

yep i figured it out. it was a loose ground behind the right headlight. i guess the ecu ground is tied into that same ground. while the engine was running i loosened the ground and the engine went to die and picked back up as soon as i tightened it up.

Where did you get the harness from, the 98 or did you/someone else build it? just out of curiosity

All the wiring is from the 98

Had to ask cause mines from a 99 and I didn't recall a ground being there.

I had a no start when I first plugged everything in but that was because the ground wire in the fuse box for the starter relay broke off.

All Fbody LS1 engine harnesses ground to the cyl heads. If you're losing all your ground through the headlight circuit, you need to modify your harness and add better grounds

Yep, the only reason I suggested looking at the right side signal light wiring was due to the symptoms.
My block is grounded from the Cyl head directly to the body. My grounds from the ECM, the engine and the battery are all connected at the same spot to the body.
