My '87 ROC

Hi, and greetings from Finland.

I have been owning this thing about 7 years now, and it is slowly becoming some kind of a pro-touring machine. It has Koni Sport struts, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, all bushings are Energy Suspension polyurethane, Lakewood adj.panhard bar, rear control arms, subframe connectors, strut tower brace, C5 vette front brakes, rear brakes are '89+ style PBR-brakes. And all that stuff... Corners pretty nicely, front end is way too heavy. It screams for aluminium heads and much lighter hood. That steel hood weighs about a ton.

Engine and drivetrain is stock. 5.7TPI and a TH700 and a Borg-Warner rear end with a 3.27 gears. It has headers, no cat and a Edelbrock RPM-catback. No AC, no emission stuff.

Here's some road racing action:

57 lbs is enough steel to make 2 brand new Toyotas.

It's a blast to drive a old Camaro in a race track when everyone else is driving BMW's, Nissans and other buckets.

Yes, you must. And make sure, that you are in Helsinki in summer. And every month's first friday night Helsinki is full of American cars. Almost 30 years long tradition.

I get some looks, (but too few from young ladies). And the sound gives you away, every time you touch the throttle, the rumble makes the heads turn.
But all the kids are crazy, they are always shouting "Burn rubber" etc...

Re: My '87 ROC

Oh man, forgot that I had a "project" story going on here at the Thirdgen.
Camaro has a LS1 and a T56 and the original 5.7 TPI and the TH700 are long gone.

Had a chance to try the standing mile at the airport strip. Lots of fun, did 243km/h, about 152mph. And of course, I screw up with the gear changes, from second straight to fifth, acceleration didn't like it too much. And then quickly to third gear... 3.27 rear is killing the speed at the fifth gear, 3.45 or 3.7 should be way better.

Here's GoPro footage of the standing mile run:
