Re: Keeping it stock
I think keeping it stock will keep value in the long run. Checking your numbers will help your decision. If the block, tranny, and frame are #s matching then keep it stock. Research older gm cars. See what's getting more green.

I have wanted it for ever so when i finally got it i knew that i wouldn't get rid of it lol Just do what seems right to you. I think a few upgrades wont hurt nothing either.

well minor upgrades like bolt ons on the engine and body mods. I am putting a posi and mabye a few small upgrades. Then some look mods. If you swap engines id look into like an LS1

Re: Keeping it stock
Since you have an RS I would do mods to it. It will be many years before these cars are bringing top money. If you do tasteful mods, and nothing to hack it up it will not change value much. Look at some of the first and early second gen camaros that have mods to them. They are bringing pretty hefty $$ with LS-1's, aftermarket wheels, and improvements on the stock setups of these cars. Of course there are 100% original ones out there, but if you don't have as much fun with it between now and then trying to keep it stock then what was it really worth. Just my

I wouldn't do anything to the wheels or engine yet. I would first go over the car thoroughly. Check out your bushings, brakes, steering equipment(idler arm, pitman arm, center link) make sure your tires and struts/shocks are good. A good set of sub frame connectors will help your ride quality and body flex. I just feel the basic stuff should be checked before you go into performance mods.

Re: Keeping it stock
what drive train is currently in it? If you look at classic muscle cars the ones that are worth money are the high performance version with the best engine available etc. If you have a v6 or a tbi most likely it will never be a real valuable car (think along the lines of a camaro with a straight 6, they get bought faily cheap than the drivetrain is pulled and replaced with a v8 and they turn it into a clone car).

Re: Keeping it stock
Dude, mod the hell out of it if you want something fun to drive. It's a 91 RS? Dime a dozen. Don't worry about value ... worry about having fun with your car. I modded my 1-of-663 '92 T/A vert to the max, and many others have done the same. I was a purist when I first got my car and wanted to keep it bone stock based on rarity, but I soon got the mod bug when I decided that I wanted to go faster, have a better ride, etc. And, as said, modded cars if done correctly will hold the same (sometimes more) value than high-production stock cars. If you had a 1LE, Firehawk, Turbo T/A, 350 Formula Vert ... something along those lines ... then it might be wise to hold off. But with your car, start dropping the cash and turning the wrenches. You'll thank me later.

Re: Keeping it stock
If you want a collectors car that will be worth more down the road, then keep it stock.
If you want a cool experience and have fun, then modify it.
Some mods will bring more value in the short term, but lose value in the long term.
Like swapping out a 305 for a 350.
If you want to have the best of both worlds.
Modify it, but keep the original parts so that you can put them back in some day, if you feel like it.

Re: Keeping it stock
I would modify it. The RS was pretty common. YOu should do what makes you happy rather than think of the value of the car in 10 or 20 years from now.
I would also keep any parts you take off the car.
