Well I havent posted or got on this site in awhile so I figured Id post some pics up of my iroc so yall can see its still around. Unforutunately I have neglecting it somewhat b/c of all my other cars and projects I have going on right now. The iroc usually just sits in the garage but I got it out and drove it to work the other day and a guy came up there with a 010 RS camaro that was almost the same color as my car which I havent seen before so I asked him if he would pull up beside me so I could click off a couple of pics. He was real cool about it and I got a couple pretty decent ones.
Thats a really beautiful IROC Camaro. I can see how the 3rd Gen.s body style really out shines the new Camaro, but I recently had the chance to see, hear and sit in a all black 2010 and have to say it really dose grow on you. At least it did me.

Wow...I've really grown to like the 5th gens after seeing them on the roads for a few months, but parked next to a clean thirdgen they look really bulky and almost ugly lol. But either way they are two clean cars.
God those 5th gens are so effing hideous! GM may have got it right with the engine and suspension on the new camaro, but the body design is deplorable!
Looking at that 5th gen makes me love 3rd gens so much more..half the people driving fifth gens have uglyas$ 20+ inch rims on them.. it's discusting..idk where gm has gone!!
They should of followed dodges concept of the challenger and made it's more classic looking!! It would b amazing.
Looking at them side by side really puts things into perspective. The thirdgen is by far the sexier car. Although I will still own a 5th gen by next year, lol I wonder what a set of 18 inch torqlites would look like on a 5th gen, gotta get rid of those heavy *** 20's.

So amazing, its great to see what passes for good looking these days . Ill take a 3rd gen body lies over a 5th any day. yet a 3rd with a 5th gen powertrain, that would be a thing of true beauty
yeah i cant say i hate 5th gens obviously lol, but they look like a freakin BRICK on wheels. its more bulky than the 1st gen its trying to resemble. we all know old muscle cars were typicaly "boxy", or bulky cars...but even those are more slender and sleek than whats comming out on the market these days. look at the challenger for example, its wayyy to bulky compared to the original challengers.
now you know why 3rd gens look the BEST. imop. more trim, slender, shorter in hieght. ect.

It may seem boxy, but DAMN that challenger still looks good!

The 10 camaro does not look too good with any other 20 inch wheel. And the minimal wheel that can use the brakes is a 18, then to fill the wheel well, it looks like a SUV tire with that much tore. Aftermarket must use 21+ inch wheels.
The Challenger looks like **** compared to the Camaro. But that is just me.
I like the new camaro's alot I didnt like them at first but they have definitely grown on me.
I agree with jones89 any wheel smaller than a 20 would look stupid on the new camaro's b/c they are built around that size wheel like all of the new cars all. They are all BIG cars, thats the only thing I dont like about them.
glad you guys like the pics and thanks for the comments it was cool seeing the two side by side I havent seen a comparison of the two cars before.
I test drove a 2010 2SS LS3/T56 Camaro this morning. The new ones are pretty sweet and almost kind of want to buy one.
The 5th gen was designed to look retro.
The 3rd gens look ahead-of-their-time and slim (maybe even sleek). Especially the iroc-z or the gtas. Look at how different the 3rdgen f-bodies look to every other car from the 80s. No doubt that the 3rdgen was the best looking car of its time (80s), you can even compare it to 80s ferraris/lambos/vettes.
I love the new camaro and I plan to own one someday(not for years though lol). But i agree, next to the third gen i'd pick the thirdgen. But also, if I could, i'd have both!
I don't see why so many people are bashing the new camaro. I am a member at camaro5.com and they are all camaro fans as we are, and they all love it! (obviously)
It was designed to have that old 60's look fo the 67 camaro but have that modern update to it. I think they nailed it. And as far as the weight goes, they did the best they could with that. Let's face it...the standards they have now compared to then are much more strict, and require a lot more. Chevy and GM did an awesome job. That's all I have to say.
I was going to say that. You also have to remember 3rd gens are very low and sleek, so almost everything will seem bulky next to them. Definately some things I would change on the new camaro. Has anyone seen the Lingenfelter body kit for the new 5th gen? It really brings the looks out on it and gives it an aggressive look.

I agree that the new age "muscle" cars are way too bulky, but another thing i really dont like is,
they have a good amount of power straight from the factory but i got to drive one of my dads friends 2ss and you cant really feel all that power, my L03 throws me in my seat harder than that 2ss, same for the newer mustangs, i drove my neighbors and its the same feeling, they built these cars with too much luxury in mind that the acceleration is smooth and not harsh like us gear heads like it
i want raw power back
i do like the 5th gen though, maybe when its 18 years old ill be able to pick one up for 500 bucks like i did my 89 RS.....lol

I agree. I've always thought that the 3rd gens looked way ahead of their time. Its nice to know that they still look pretty fresh even today.
That being said, I still love the new Camaro. I'd love to be able to get one as a daily driver.

yeah but then motor trend, car and driver, etc would all bitch about that. like how they bitched about the dead pedal in an automatic dodge charger was in the wrong place
Great picture. It looks to me like a picture of two brothers - the older on the right and the younger brother on the left. The older brother looks wiser, leaner, and more mature while the younger brother has been pumping some iron, is beefed up, and ready to tear up the road. Lets all try to keep the hate flowing to the Mustangs that deserve it and keep the love in the Camaro family. A nice family photo.

Now that is a good analogy. Good way to look at it.
Even though I like 5ths and can see some simliar lines between the two, the IROC-Z owns that car all over the place. Thirds are by far the most nicely styled Camaros ever.
I like both cars even tho they do seem odd sitting next to each other. One thing you have to remember is that both the camaro and challenger ride on big car platforms (g8 and 300c). Naturally, the cars will be big and bulky to be proportioned correctly. Also, as was noted earlier, there are so many safety regs now with impact zones, 100 airbags and enough wiring/electronics to light up a skyscraper, there will be no more slim trim sporty cars any more (unless you want a miata).
