Finally did something I've been wanting to do for a looong time....

I finally got some time on my hands and decided to swap my '84 sc front bumpter out for the '86 Iroc bumper that I've had for over a year. The '84 was custom made by the PO and I just never really liked it. I think it looks MUCH better and hope to have it and my hood painted by the end of summer. What'cha think?

I parted out 3 camaro's last year and this bumper was on an '83 Z28. It was a new GM bumper that the P/O of that car had installed but never painted. It was in excellent condition. It really isn't that hard to install, just kind of a pain in the butt, especially by myself.

Yeah, the P/O had pulled up to far on a curb and damaged the middle part. It used to go all the way across on the bottom, but he cut it out once it got damaged. The lower T/A style airdam is fiberglass and attatched by some sort of resin with some reinforcement brackets. It's really solid. Too bad it got damaged, but it's easily fixable.
This is the center where it got cracked.

Not sure really. The P/O added everything. '82-'84 I think...could be wrong though.

I agree. I never really liked it that much.

I sorta liked it too and thought I could live with it until it got made fun of at a local f-body show (fbodygathering) last year while I was in earshot. Kinda ticked me off and I decided at that point that it had to go.

Re: Finally did something I've been wanting to do for a looong time....

I can see were there was some custom work done to the 84 sport coupe nose piece and although its original and different the Iroc nose piece looks so much better. When I first bought my 89 Iroc it came with a Berlinetta bumper cover and a different color front fender. One of the previous owners must of had a little accident and pieced it together with what ever they could find I guess. No real damage . But as with you It simply had to go.

Pulled the camaro out today and took some outside shots that show the new bumper vs. the old ground effects. I don't really see where it looks lower/awkward than the side ground effects. I do notice that when I changed the impact bar behind the bumper that I didn't bolt it down Level to the car and the foglights are lower on the passenger side, so I need to adjust that.

Np. It's the first time I've had it out of the garage in a few weeks because of a small coolant leak that I needed to fix. Saving $$ to have it and the hood painted now.

Now that I look at it, old gfx with the new front bumper actually matches up better than the newer style sides (referring to my sig. picture)

Thanks again.
Painted the headlight buckets yesterday. Took a couple pics but might have to pull it outside to really see because of the bad lighting.
