Been three years, nearly four. Took me 15 years to get one. I put alot into and I am now starting over after a crash. Semper Fi man, I am a Marine too. Bulk Fuel specialist, lol. Supposed to be combat engineer, lol. Gotta hate those contracts!

Bought mine over 3 years ago back when I was "young and stupid" and knew nothing about cars. Did alot of ghetto fixes/mods, fried the trans and even wrecked the car. It's sat more than it has driven. I'm preparing for round two however and this time will be different.

Re: How Long Have You?
I bought my '92 RS to replace the car I was driving at the time, which was stolen from my apartment complex, insurance made a healthy down-payment. That was in Nov '97, and it's still my daily driver, and the one that got me into the 3rd-gen community. 4 years ago, I acquired an '89 RS to play around with and it's currently undergoing a 383 swap.

Re: How Long Have You?
Got mine February of 2009.
It was originally purchased in the US, by a GI stationed in Heidelberg (Germany) at the time.
When he sold it the car was exported to Switzerland and received a 240 km/h dashboard insert. The car stayed in Switzerland, and with the same owner untill January 2009. In January 2009 the owner sold the car to a car dealer in Sandhausen, close to Heidelberg, where he originally purchased the car.
That's where I picked it up in February 2009.

Re: How Long Have You?
I got my very first Camaro back in May of 1994. It was a 1987 SC with a 2.8 liter V6. I saved up for a year and put the Z28/RS ground effects on it and had it painted. I had it until December 1999. It started to nickel and dime me, so I figured it was time to move on and I sold it.
I always loved third gen Camaros, so I told myself that I'd get a 1991-92 Z28 someday. I started looking back in 2006 and found a 1992 Z28 on autotrader.com. I went to go check it out and take it for a test drive. The next day I went and picked it up and I've had it ever since.

Original owner of a '86 Firebird w/ T-roofs. Just starting to go through it now. It's not easy to keep a car for 25 years. Going back to stock. Glad my wife encouraged me to hang onto it.

Just passed the 12 year mark, got it at 15. Realized a couple weeks ago that the majority of the car's life has been spent with me, and I thought that was pretty cool. I may not be the original owner (2nd owner), but I am the longest-standing owner.

Re: How Long Have You?
28 years in August on the first one. 26 years in August on the second one. Still enjoy them as much as any car I've ever owned. I have noticed a comeback on the attention they get as of late. People are starting to see them as "old" cars. They get a lot of "cool old camaro" comments. It seems like yesterday when they were brand new, but they're pushing 30 now.

Re: How Long Have You?
i'm on the second round of owning my 92 rs. i owned it for about 2 years and poured every dime, hour, and ounce of sweat i had into rebuilding the motor, tranny, and every little piece of the car, til i sold, only needing a paint job. i sold it to help out my girlfriend at the time(big mistake, lol). then one day my friend hit the wrong button on craigslist, and bam there it was. the next day it was in my friends drive way and not far off from how i sold it. i will live out of this car before i sell it again lol

Re: How Long Have You?
I have had my Z28 since June 1999. I had a 85 sport coupe I bought in early 95 as my first 3rd gen.
I hope and pray I never know what it feels like to be without a thirdgen!

Re: How Long Have You?
I bought mine in May '96 and still own it. I was the second owner and it only had 48K miles on it. I will never part with the car, I have too much blood on it. I mean I have too much blood, sweat, and swear words into it.

Re: How Long Have You?
Going to be getting my first in about a week. 1985 Camaro. Going to be my second/project car. She's not the prettiest right now(still has original paint that's showing it's age quite well to say the least, and the headliner's coming down) but everything else on her is perfect. First thing I'll do when I have the money is repaint her but I will keep the same color and paint scheme.

Re: How Long Have You?
I bought my first one in 1998 when I turned eighteen, had it for 3-4 years sold it to buy another with a V8 305 that I still have and now has a stock 355 in it. Plus own the original camaro that got me into wanting to own a camaro in the first place when I was 4 years old, 84 Z28. In which has been in the family since it came off the dealership floor. So owning one would be 12 years, been around one for 26-27 years. Just can't compare anything else that is so enjoyable to drive.

Re: How Long Have You?
I bought mine in the fall of 1997, so coming up on 14 years. I was 18 at the time, I just wanted a solid chassis for a SBC and TH350 to go racing.
The car has been a personal teaching tool, common ground to spend time with family, served up major frustration, and provided a lot of good memories. For those who have never had the pleasure to own a long term project car/hot rod, they just can't understand the level of attachment one gets to a vehicle. 14 years of owning, hundreds of hours wrenching, Power Touring, dragstrip passes, and cruising nice summer evenings. Its my car, and I plan to keep it for the long term. As long as I'm not breaking anything, cost of ownership is low.
