Finally...back on the 91!
I see many builds in this section so it seems appropriate to post here... After a 5 year plus hiatus, I'm finally back to working on my Camaro! She has been hibernating in the garage due to losing interest in working on it after running into some issues as well as other things in life. The car had been having clutch problems and pretty much knew the trans was gonna have to come out. Well after a couple years of sitting and having run the engine only a couple times, the fuel pressure took a crap. My suspicion is the fuel hose that connects the hard line to the pump has split. Happened before once and it's the same symptoms. Anyhow, as I have been perusing thru the message board again and seeing lots of awesome builds going on, I have really taken an interest again after getting started. I have lots to do(as a result of "while i'm there") and then I'm not even sure once I finish what I might do with the car. Probably sell it but I will at least drive and race it a few more times!
Things to do:
Fix fuel pressure
Clean up the differential
Change out some rear suspension components
Pull Trans, swap clutch, bleed hydraulics
Clean up the underbody and components
Bleed brake system
Pull radiator and have cleaned
A lil bit of engine maintanence
Trying to do this in the least expensive way as I don't feel like dumping much more into the car at this point after owning it almost 18 years.
Parts I already have or acquired over the years to be installed:
Spec II clutch (dealer cost looooong time ago)
BMR poly adjustable LCA's (used,$100 bucks)
Front and rear swaybar bushings and endlinks ($60)
Random Technology adjustable Torque Arm (Free...long story)
SPOHN driveshaft safety loop... prolly require modifying for fitment with exhaust ($80 bucks)
Russel SS braided center rear brake hose ($40bucks)
KYB AGX rear shocks ($160)
At this point, the exhaust is out, the rearend is just about out cept for 3 bolts, swaybar out, shoes all removed and E cables disconnected, driveshaft out, and tank is waiting... Long way to go! Heres a few pics I snapped, but I will be taking more photos and posting progress as I go along.

Re: Finally...back on the 91!
A bit more progress... Rear is out as well as tank! I think I may have the bad tank which insued the recall. Looks like some leaky leaks here! I sure don't recall it being this bad looking last time I dropped it. Gonna have to check my VIN and see if it falls under it. Only thing is I wonder if I could even get the recall done if I'm doing the work?? The old stock LCA's with poly bushing sure have worked ok but it's time for an upgrade! I wish I could say the same for the diff, but I'll have to stick with the stocker! Swaybar will get sent to powder coater then all new bushings and endlinks will be installed.

Re: Finally...back on the 91!
Ugh! Fuel tank is corroded as well as the pinholes on filler neck, assembly completly corroded/rusted, and pump is locked up. I tested the pump to see if it spun by connecting to battery. It clicks but no spin. I've got the recall info and will contact GM about the tank. Not what I wanted to see when I pulled the assembly for sure. Was hoping for just a split hose to cause the loss of fuel pressure, but the rubber in the hose is completely disintegrated! It's my fault for letting the car sit so long. Anybody have any recommendations on which fuel assembly to buy?? AC Delco unit is $290 thru RockAuto and then I see the cheaper brands at half the cost. If I can't get the tank recall performed then thats another $170 plus the $100 on another Walbro pump.

Not too much of an update cept ordering/waiting on parts and cleaning up some existing stuff. A lil wax on powdercoated parts sure works great to shine them back up! The wonder bar pic below, I did half and it looked almost new! Got the diff all cleaned up as well. The center section was completely caked with years of oil and grime! I'm just gonna put a coat of black on it and roll with it. Should look much better though! Still waiting to hear back from local Dealer on the tank recall, otherwise I'll just have order one. Lots to come....

Nobody but me is installing anything! Lol! That's kind of the issue though...since I'm doing the work I'm hoping the Service manager will help me out to do the warranty without the car. It's not really suppose to go down that way but I have read that some have done so. And yes I know it'll be aftermarket. I read thru the whole recall thread weeks ago so I'm up to date on it. I won't be pissed if they don't but it's worth a shot!

Re: Finally...back on the 91!
It's been a while and I have made only a little progress. Just haven't been able to work on it like I have hoped. I've painted the rear end and rear brake lines. I've also been using my dremel with wire brush attachment to clean up bolt heads for a nice detail. They look new again as you can see. Long long ago the torque arm bracket was bent from UPS and I got that fixed and installed. I have new fuel tank, pump, and assembly together and ready to go back into the car as well. Slowly but surely though, right!

Here is a shot of the rear before painting. It took lots of scraping and brake cleaner to clean up the grime, grit, n grease built up!

Re: Finally...back on the 91!
Some progress... Back rear underbody is painted along with a couple heat shields. Got the new tank in as well. I also ordered one of the Perfect Launch diff covers as it will be going in next with rear suspension. Think I might test fuel pump 1st just make sure it's buzzin before the diff! Would suck to have to remove everything if it wasn't. lol
