Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
picked up some IROC wheels
the front two are BFG G-force sports with around 80% left, the rear two are getting replaced with Nitto NT555s

Must be a night and day differnce with all the upgrades, how does it handle now and how do you like that GW track link.

I have been keeping up with your build for a while now, keep up the good work! I noticed you removed the front fender ground effects and the small rear quarter panel pieces, are you planning on leaving them off?

I like track link so far, I can't really compare it to any other style torque arm.

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
there staying off, they where in really bad shape and never fit right, the previous owner had stitched the RF one back together with sheet-metal and rivets, the rear ones where in OK shape but I like it better without them.

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
Since I don't daily drive this car anymore, I figured I'd get rid of the crappy 2 1/2" single exhaust.
here's the old exhaust
The new set-up is literally a hack job I cut up the old exhaust to make this, all I had to buy was two 18" long 2 1/2" straight pieces and mufflers, I am gonna add a crossover pipe eventually
I have alot more tuning to do but it seems to pull alot harder from 3000-6000RPM

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
been battling with what seemed like a vacuum leak and weird smell coming from the exhaust for a while, but I couldn't find anything on the top side of the motor, so off came intake
after looking at the gaskets the intake ports didn't seem to be leaking but around the exhaust crossover was all oil soaked and black. and after some searching on google I used fel-pro permatorque gaskets and some people say they wont work with aluminium intakes so this time I used the edelbrock 7201 that they recommend with there intake.
I found this while I did the intake gaskets
my mr.gasket thermostat feel apart, thats the second one of these that have failed so I picked up a moroso water outlet restrictor kit

Nice project man keep up the work! When will it be painted & how come you deleted the rear spoiler?
I had a 82 but was black and gold, sold it to a member here for 1,000.00 since it couldn't get through smog anymore and I knew he would fix it up nice. It went to the netherlands.

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
I haven't updated this in while..not much changed, I drove it all summer made it to 5 street legal nights best time was a 15.33 at 88mph.
after the new exhaust the car was running alittle lean, when I went to change the jets my elcheapo chrome fuel line twisted off
I may have got carried away with AN fittings and braided line again but I like this setup alot better, I don't even have to take the fuel lines off to change jets. I didn't have a 90* degree fitting so the line for the rear bowl is alittle long.

this seemed like good spot for some pictures, the gravel pit in the back ground of the first picture is where we used to party back in highschool.

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
since its that time of year again I've been collecting parts,
black door panels, almost done converting my interior to black, debating on leaving the headliner and seats grey.

comp XE262H cam and all the required parts for it
comp magnum 1.52 roller tip rockers
this should be a fun winter.

Re: 82 Trans Am, work in progress
haven't updated this for awhile, I finished doing the cam swap.
but it didn't really have any more power than it did before. best pass before was a 15.35 at 88mph after it went 14.93 at 93 mph, shoulda known better the bottom end was done.
I also got sick of dragging the exhaust on every bump or dip in the road went back to a 3" single with a flowmaster 80
this was my first try at building a y-pipe
