58mark: The old hatch got a baseball thrown thru it.
BlownSS: Well I didn't really have a choice, I scratched the living heck out of the eyelid and didn't have any more red paint mixed and no money to buy so I just did everything the grey color. It was the only hatch that I found that I could afford, I'm only 17 and work part time and still in high school and college. I'd love to put a spoiler on it, but 500$ is something I don't have
82tarecaro: Thanks!
dabomb6608: Its alright, I like it cause it does have the defrost on it and plus it was only available one year on the TAs so it does have some uniquness to it

Re: Final Paint Pics 1988 Trans Am
Looks good, but does need a spoiler for sure. Maybe pick up a base Firebird spoiler as they are cheap and easy to install. Also I would get the overspray off the lower airdam as it will make the paint job that much cleaner.

Re: Final Paint Pics 1988 Trans Am
Thanks and I know, I really want a camaro high rise, and I have been blacking stuff out little by little. I painted the air dam and inner fenders with truck bed coating. I'm either going to put the factory wrap around, base firebird spoiler, or the camaro high rise

Re: Final Paint Pics 1988 Trans Am
I think you've done a great job so far. The transformation from then to now is marvelous. And besides, you can always change things as you go. if I was 17 again and had a car like this to work with, I'd be doing exactly what you're doing with what money you have. Keep up the great work and make her exactly the way you want her. You'll always have folks who disagree.

Re: Final Paint Pics 1988 Trans Am
I actually like that 1 with the spoiler, considering there were really only 4 available, no light, high mount outside, under spoiler, high mount inside. I like the 86 style a little bit better considering it was only available in 86 for birds. Plus it had the defroster lines which my 88 didn't. I also didn't like the brake light under the spoiler, plus that big a** glass needs something on it, to big to be plain. The 1 thing I don't like about the 86 is it is a PITA to find plastic 3 piece window louver set for it since my car was factory optioned with em. My car has just about every option a GTA has except for rims and motor.

I like the fact that you kept the hatch originally designed for it. That shows it was distinct only for that year. The car looks to be in good shape

Thanks. Its not the original hatch but I like it. The body is in excellent shape. There was only one tiny spot of rust on it and it was on the passenger side floor board just above the convertor but I got rid of it

After I get my tickets paid off, I'm going to put the vette GS stripe on, but its gonna be painted on, and its gonna be the gunmetal metallic color. Starting to make a stencil for it. Should be interesting.
