Well... it finally happened.
I can probably get away with a non-tech thread here in a regional board. Anyway.
It finally happened guys. The Camaro is gone. Sold tonight, about an hour ago, for $3000 cash. The guy never even test drove it or saw it in the daylight. I only talked to him no sooner than about 12:30 this afternoon, and he drove in from out of town tonight. He's got 2 motors on stands, just has to decide which one to put in the car, and which one in the boat. Both are carb'd, one is a 355 one is a 454. He used to have a 91, but it got totalled in a bad wreck. He said he missed that car and wanted another one similar, and he found mine. In between he had an 80 Z28, that was also wrecked. Both happened the same way, a guy blew a stop sign and broadsided him.
So the infamous grey sport coupe is gone. But, to a good home, and an owner who fully appreciates it. What more could I ask for? I'm gonna miss that car though, I had a lot of good times in it, and that color of grey became my favorite color on any car. Wish my 'Stang was gunmetal grey.
Once I'm outa school, I plan on finding another 3G car, but one that I can fully go through and build like crazy, instead of having to keep it sane for daily use.
Thats about all. I'll still be posting here, I'm just one of the "other guys" now.

Duuuuuude..... I'll buy you a new 3rd gen if you pour concrete into the oil fill cap of that mustang, fill the tires with propane, douse the interior with gasoline, take a dump on the hood, push the car off a cliff, and throw a malatov-cocktail down after it.
KA BOOM!
Sorry, I just really really hate mustangs.. I hate anything to do with Ford, really. Ford is a **** poor excuse for a car company.

nah man.....demolition derby!!! there's always old fords in there.
you know something is messed up when my father used to work for ford as an electrician fixing their machines and he only bought one ford due to the insane discount he got. AND after that ford what did he learn......chevy, gmc, and sometimes dodge.....but never ford. he will not even go into a ford dealership to look at their trucks.

Coming out of the Ford closet
I admit.. I'm driving a Ford right now.. But wait! Before you flame..... It was free. See, my dad bought a 91 Ford F-150 around 93 or 94. Around 95, the paint started to peel.. Come to find out Ford used a special test paint on all their 89, 90, and 91 vehicles. Well by the time the paint started peeling on the truck, when my dad called Ford, they said "Oh, yeah there was a semi-recall on that.. It wasn't advertised.. It was a case by case basis where if your vehicle started peeling we'd repaint it.. Oh, that recall is over now.. Sorry"
That's when my hatred of Ford began. Now, my dad bought a 2003 Saturn Vue, and since the TA isn't road worthy yet, my dad gave me his truck so I could have a means of transportation. So, the **ONLY** reason I'm driving a Ford, is because it was free. I'm still tempted to drive it into a telephone pole and use the insurance money to help me get my TA back on the road. But, ya know.. I feel you shouldn't diss a car company unless you have reason to.. Well, that's my reason.

Oh and I don't like Dodge either.. EVERY Dodge product I've ever driven has been a P.O.S. I've never owned one but I used to deliver parts for an autoparts store out here, and all the delivery trucks (except one GMC) were Dodge.. They always broke down. Water pump going out, lifter going bad, piston rings obviously shot, etc. My friend has a Dodge Ram and I hate that thing.. Just the design of the interior on those truck makes me wanna get out and walk.. The steering wheels? Stupidest design I've ever seen..

Hey, so far I've got no reason not to like the car. Price difference between the 2 cars is $4000. Sold the camaro for 3, bought the stang for 7. To make the camaro handle the way this one does, put in a 5 speed, and go through the engine would have cost nearly that much. Plus it was going to start having rust problems soon, I could tell, it was starting to get bubbles. And I was just ready to try something new. I've never actually driven any car more than a year and a half, I'm gonna turn 21 next month and have already had 5 cars now. I plan on keeping this one until probably this time next year, maybe until the end of next summer. Depending on what I can afford at the time, I'm probably gonna go for either a:
- 94-97 T/A
- 91-92 Z28 (Must be in excellent shape)
- 86-90 T/A (If I can find a real real nice one)
- Early 90s stealth (I've always liked these, wanna give one a try)
I just noticed another Mustang isn't really on the list. See, Fox body mustangs go for REALLY crazy amounts of money aroud here. For a under 100,000 mile, 5.0 5-speed 87-93 GT in decent shape, expect to pay 6-7000 minimum. No ****. A 2003 cobra would be cool but way too expensive, LS1 cars are also out of my range. 99+ Mustangs are cool but, they're so similar to mine, why would I get one?
At this point, I'm out to try a lot of different type sports cars to see what I like best. Once I find that, I'm gonna go nuts on it. Thats part of the reason I bought a stang, I wanna long term try one out. See if I can figure out why some people are so loyal to them, and others dislike them so much.
So far, my opinion is actualyl pretty neutral. I like its looks, its got some guts, and handles pretty good. But, thats compared to a 15 year old car. Of course it'll handle better, its got 17s on it and a slightly stiffer frame. Put 17s and subframes on the camaro, and a STB since the stang has one, it'd probably be pretty close if not better. And the list goes one. And I just realized I'm writing a freakin book... so i'm gonna quit.

Yeah, its a jungle in there. My neighbor used to have one until about a year ago. I probbaly wouldn't go too crazy on the mods for that one, that being a good part of the reason. But for some reason I've always liked those cars quite a bit, and have kinda always wanted to have one. I'm a big fan of DSMs too, but around here its very hard to come across a good one. Which is ironic, because they were all built about 45 minutes away from here, and I still see train loads of new eclipses being shipped on rail cars all the time. I'd really like to have a black 1st gen GSX, I almost bought a red one instead of my Camaro back at that time but there were a lot of factors in that decision.
