trailer needed
Anyone know where i can rent a trailer from? I need to get my car from Kalamazoo to Detroit area. About 150 miles.
Could my dads 2003 Trailblazer pull it? It has the hitch provisions(the holes for the ball) It has the 4.2 I6 and is RWD not 4X4 though. What class hitch is needed?
Thanks,
Matt

ha alot more then that....i'd give you phone numbers but you'd easily be looking at 300 by the end of the day and that's one day plus gas and mileage taxes.
i use alot of trailers which is why i have my own. if i didn't have the car i would be happy to try and work a deal to help you out. unfortunately it's pretty expensive. if you can find them for 100 for an open even id except it. to have some one tow you that far is 3 times that.

I'd think the cheapest way to go would be a tow bar.
IF it is able to roll on all 4's.....

Well it cant be towed casue a tie rod is screwed up. If it wasnt for that I'd drive it back. The taillights still function. But being that the hatch is destroyed it would get really cold really fast.
I've read that the u-haul trailers arent wide enought to accomodate our cars and our tires, is that true?
Thanks,
Matt

IMO a tie rod isn't worth getting a trailer for....can't it be fixed??
If it could, I'd wear something really warm and drive it home!

how bad is the tie rod? if you can just put a new tie rod on, even if the alignment isnt perfect...then you can tape up the hatch good enough to keep some heat inside the car. my trailor is being used right now, or i would offer to tow your car over to detroit for you.
have yo tried to call uhaul yet? the trailblazor should pull it, but i wouldnt go free way speeds with it.

Well right now the alighnment is way off, the tierod looks to have been pulled and extended out. When the steering wheel is straight the driverside wheel is pretty straight, the passenger side is turned outwards at like 20-30 degees. I also only have a basic toolkit and not much room to work in my dorms parking lot.
I want to make sure the frame is good before i repair anything. I looked at the back frame rails and they look good to me, no obvious bending or anything, though I want to get it checked by someone who knows frames better than me.
I'd need a lot of tape. The back hatch is pretty much completely desstroyed, no glass at all is left.
I'm going to call U-haul today.
Thanks,
Matt

How would I adjust the tie rod in order to get the wheel straight again?
Thanks,

you can just adjust it as if you were doing an alignment. but if something is bent under there, most likely it will be weak in which case i wouldnt drive to detroit with it, even if you can adjust it that much. a new tie rod is pretty cheap.

OK, well today i'll have to go underneath and check again. Also I was thinking, maybe have the frame shecked out over here to see if it is even worth trying to get it home. Anyone know of a shop around Western that would check the frame out for me?
Thanks,
Matt

OK, now its the driverside wheel that is messed up. Maybe i got confused. Also the 1/4 panel isnt bent i think, The way the bumper is bent made it look like that i think.
Uhaul trailer-$118 one way. This a ok deal?

3 hour drive i would spend roughly 50 in gas for the diesel not to mention the amount it cost for the trailer i'd say it's a decent deal. compared to others....better then having to pay a tow bill for three times that.
