Metro area auto & body shops......

I was just thinking that a thread dedicated on people helping others on here find good metro area shops would be a good idea.
For example, what places do people recomend and not recomend for certain types of work...or what places are people loyal to?

PS- just for my 2cents....

GENERATIONS auto @ 10Mile & Groessbeck
-NEW(within the last 5 months)Great looking place, a little pricey from what I've asked about but not anything over-the-roof- bad. Never had them do any work on my car.

TUFFY auto @ 22 & Van Dyk
-Its a Tuffy auto shop....under "new"(within the last few years) mgt. Can be a LITTLE pricey, however their head mechanic will do some small extra's for little or no cost if you get to be a regular. * Used them to put my "new" rebuilt 305 into my T/A: TOTAL cost of install plus engine cost and some on the side extras I asked them to do(about $45 worth) was JUST over the $2700.00 mark.

MOJO AUTO @ 6 & Van Dyk
-Small place, GOOD prices from what I've asked them. Never had them work on my car. Seem to be reputable; will be honest with you and tell you if something will be cheaper and easier to do it yourself.

really depends on what needs to be done........

generations should be considered show quality restoration type deals. i'm sure they would take on smaller jobs but you "may" pay a bit more then most. however you get what you pay for.

auto city collision on 13& groesbeck is great for just about anything and their prices are competative.

marios on gratiot use to be a decent place...haven't been or seen anything from them in some time though.

up the road on gratiot ave between 24 and 25 mile there is a specialty paint and body shop that has done numberous autorama winners as well as movie cars. their prices are pretty reasonable but again i haven't seen anything in years.

point being there are plenty out there though...

I also would like to recommend Mario's on Gratiot. They finished my quarter panels after I stretched the wheel openings for taller tires, and they did a great job of matching/blending in the existing red paint finish. Great work and reasonable prices. They are also a sponsor of the North Gratiot cruise, and I like to support businesses that cater to our hobby.
