Cruise and BBQ on the 28th of September... You thought Toms River was good...
TwiztidZ28 is at it again. This time it's going to be even better...
The official date is September 28th, the place has not been decided yet, however some of the places mentioned were, "cheesquake park, the other is a park in east brunswick, and the other is manasaquan. i think that is it anyway."
When I get more details, I'll change the post title to reflect.
Time is also under deliberation. This meeting will be held during the day so we can get some photos and stuff... this seemed to be a major complaint with the Toms River meet... we're taking that experience and learning from it, so hopefully this time will be better...
The LS1.com guys will be invited, and they're sure to show, since quite a few of them were from up north to begin with... We'll have to have a talk with them and hopefully get them to be a little more receptive of us younger guys...
I havn't heard anything about how exactly the BBQ will work, but I assume everyone who attends will be asked to bring something... everything from a bag of charcoal, to a package of burgers, hot dogs, toppings, drinks... ect. Because there is going to be food, we are going to have to keep a handle on how many people will be attending, if you plan to do so, please let us know by posting...
I'm going to cook up some flyers once the info is final that you all will be able to print out... then rather than stopping people in parking lots, you can just throw a flyer on thier windshield.
We'll get this straightend out, just keep your eyes peeled on this post for updates... But for now, you all better request Sept. 28th off and make sure you don't leave your school work for the weekend.

Over at LS1.com i was informed that the 21st is trophy marathon day. So we won't havea good turnout if we have it the 21st. That is why it is the 28th. So far it looks to be like the cheesequake state park or the bicentinal park in east brunswick. Once i have a definate place i will let everyone know and directions.

Weel i am not fimilar on any of those places. But the cheesequake sounds like a good place. gene over at ls1 said that there might be a charge for us and that is like 50 bucks. i know a couple of parks by me that have bbqs and tables and all that good stuff. places for me a nikki to take a walk also! i will check with gene and see if the cheesequake is a good place.

Great, I'm almost afraid to go to E-town today... you two will be goobering it up at the staging lanes... lol
Money is tight since I'm going to be hitting college (which is why the headers need to wait until next June ) but I wouldn't mind pitching in some bucks...
Lets explore the options... Keep us updated on what Gene says.

I'll definately be there. I'm so mad i missed the Toms River meet. Hey BigAl, i'll see you there. You better bring that Mexican band. I leave Sat the 24th for school too in Philly. I'm going to St. Joe's. I'll be looking for the '87 Z. Unfortunatly my paint job was pushed back to January because of school! Just tell me what to bring and i'll see everyone there. Peace.

I will definatelly be there... I can make it either the 21'st or the 28th just let me know so I can requestoff from work. I will bring any thing that we might need, so far from what it looks like we need drinks, so ill grap a couple 2liters or 12packs of soda before I come up. Im also going to need directions becasue im all the way down in south jersey like 1hour and 45 mins away from east brunswick. Ohh and a time would be cool too so I know what time to be out of the house by. If the park charges hopefully the turnout would be soo good everyone could chicp in like a dollar and between us it would cover everything keep us posted

Well i am calling the cheesequake state park today and booking a section for the 28th even if i have to put the money up front and it might come out to a buck a person, plus the price of burgers and hotdogs or soda whatever you bring.

havent thought of it if i knew a lot of people were going to come i probably could do something like that. I wouldn't mind. if everyone who was at toms river goes that would be about 70 people. the cost to feed 70 people for most of the day will kill me and it would have to be like $10 a head to eat. maybe $7 i will have to go to cosco and see how much burgers are and hotdogs. buns are going to suck because i dont think they sell those wholesale. soda will be cool.
Is anyone against me getting all the food and charging everyone no more then $10 for food. Then all people need to bring is coolers. becasue there is going to be alot of food.

Whatever works, It doesn't matter to me. As long as people aren't too picky about what they want to eat. What if you get stuff everyone hates! You will ruin everyones fun and we will be forced to kick your ***. Just kidding haha.
Anyway this sounds like a great idea, I have no problem chipping in for food or anything. And the 28th sounds fine to me, i'm hoping like hell i'll have the heads and cam done by then in the WS6.

See i really don't want to make any kind of profit. WHat is that money going to go towards to? my headliner, my sun visors, or my carpet? I could use all of those even new weather stripping for my t-tops. or even a 4th gen center console. a billet grille, or just save it for my LS1 T-56 swap in the winter. But depending on how many people go also depends on how much food we need.
Yesterday i spoke with the cheesequake statepark and they said they are in a stage 3 right now, which simply meens no fires, which meens no BBQ's. To book a spot is $25 in advance. There will also be a charge of $5 per car that the park charges. this will be an additional fee charged by the park that goes to them. SO unless they get rain no BBQ at the Cheesequakewhich meens we need a new place.
How many people will be against going up north by to have a BBQ?

Anybody here ever heard of Duke Island Park? It's 15 minutes from me, they have plenty of parking for the outdoor concerts they put on, and i'm pretty sure it is free. Just pull up and start BBQing. They have scattered grills around the park and benches and whatnot. It is in Raritan right off the Somerville Circle and rt. 22 by Bridgewater. It would be a good place. Just a suggestion.

Matt86t/a is right. duke island park would be a great place for the BBQ. no fees for parking cars, no money to reserve a place to have the BBQ and they have plenty of grilles and picnic tables.

I am calling them back today. I called on friday and spoke with a Leslie they have 4 areas open on that day as of friday. i am going to book a area with 13 tables and 13 grills. it is the closest to the bathrooms and play area for the kids. It hold up to 100 people. and the permit is $60 bucks. there is a fee if you are haveing a large group like we are. and it is $5 a car that i believe you pay as you enter. a small fee but well worth it because it is going to be better then toms river. after talking with a couple of guys from LS1.com last night up in nanuette things are going to be great. verry cool people with great cars. I to will have LS1 verry soon. Which reminds me does anyone want a 86 Z28? Yes my car it is going.

I'm glad i can actually take credit for thinking of something for once. BigAl, nice times buddy, my little 305 is kinda jealous. Now that i picked the place i guess i have to go It will be great. I don't mind paying for anything i just want to have a good time and meet all my friends from the site. If you're coming you should probably post so we get an idea of how much food we need and the cost per person. Im out.

Matt,
Here is the thing. It is not only just this site going. Over at LS1.com alot of people are going to be there also. Like big name people in the car world. Hopefully the guy from SLP will be here to. he was at toms river for a couple of minutes. Also the guys from Z-rated motorsports.com might be going also. Everyone on that site i met are really cool down to earth guys. A lot of Fast FBodies will be there a couple that i know of with really close to 400 RWP (396 and 397) some probably have more like Phil he is rinning 11.4 in his T/A. Everyone is going to bring something so that it doesn't have extra food left over. And will also cut the food and beverage fee.
Well it looks like the place is set and it is duke island park. I am getting the paperwork faxed to me as i am typing this. all i have to do afterwards is send the the permit fee and we have it.
As for food and cost of the place. I will have a box for the collection and just $1 per person should cover the price. If it is not enough i will put the rest in. I just want this to happen and be better then Toms River. 2 Genious plans but one will triumph over the other. The BBQ is going to be from about 10:30 to 7 or 8 I will be there at 10 and setting everything up getting the grills ready we should head down to e-town afterwards and couse some ruckes when they see 50 F-bodies pull up at the same time.

thanks twiztid. I'm glad i know where the place will be since i thought of it Sorry to all those guys like 91dubZ who have to drive a while. From the parkway if you get of at 128 i think you can get on rt. 287. From there take exit 9 in bridgewater and follow rt. 22 to raritan. I will make more detailed directions for whoever and i'm sure twiztid will do the same. I'm really familiar with the area so just contact me.
