Mounting Nitrous bottle

I am looking at mounting my nitrous bottle in the spare tire well. Will this pass tech inspection?

It needs to be isolated from the driver's compartment by a firewall. Since a third gen is considered a "hatchback" and there is no rear firewall or trunk area, plastic compartments don't pass, you'll need to install an external vent to pass a tech inspection. The vent is designed to vent the NOS to the outside of the vehicle if the pressure relief ever blows.

Other than that it just needs to be properly installed with the proper mounting brackets.

also, when you mount it thru the wheel well, use a backing plate...

in otherwords, have the bolts go thru the bracket, thru the wheel well, and thru another piece of metal that is large enough to spread out the weight.....

Hey if u mount the N.O.S. bottle over the hump in the back seat and put the blow off tube on there and run it out a hole there would that pass for tech? i know ive seen other cars run and theyve had them mounted in front of the passenger side seat and have the blow off tubes installed.

Yes Tim, that will pass inspection as long as the pressure relief valve is vented to the outside of the car.

I called the head of tech inspection at my local track. He said there is no problem mounting it in the spare tire well as long as the blow off tube is directed through a hole to the outside of the passenger compartment.

My bottle is on the driveshaft tunnel between the rear seats. I have a blow down tube running to a bulkhead on the floor. Everything passes tech just fine. You can even run your supply line inside the car.
