How much would a functional Ram Air hood and Filter help?

I don't really like the looks of the Ram Air hoods on thirdgen firebirds, but I want to go faster at the strip. I have now a single SLP cold air intake and K&N filter. Im was looking for a fiberglass hood for weight reductin but they don't make a plain one or a formula asymetrical bulge one as far as I have seen. I can get a functional Ram air one with TPI Air box for $615 I think it was from one of the sponsors on here. Would this help my 1/4 times any?

If You already have a cold air intake, I wouldnt expect to see much difference. Maybe a tenth at the most. There are many mixed opinions about ram air even being effective. In my opinion its not worth the money, hood swap, and having to paint it.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. I guess the biggest benefit would be the weight reduction due to firberglass. I guess most people do it for looks, but like I said, I prefer the look of my formula hood now.

Looks like Your just about out of bolt on's. Time to step up to a cam, heads, or power adder if You wanna go any faster. You can also try experimenting with Your suspension. There's always a couple tenths to be had in that department. What are You running with Your current setup?

definately removing as much weight out of the front end as possible will help times. my glasstek hoods weighs 8-10 pounds total but is a pin-on hood. My buddies bolt on hood was significantly heavier which is due to the dual layers with metal in the middle to hold up the hood.

Pin on hoods are way lighter.Mine weighs about 22lbs but the stock monte ss hood is very heavy 50+lbs.Mine also didn't fit perfectly. The body shop had to shim the lower part of the cowl on the hood so the wipers could still work.
