New best time on the motor!
I'm so dang happy right now First pass of the night I set a new best on the motor. Back in 05 I ran a 12.22 @ 110 and tonight right off the trailer I ran a 12.17 @ 112. That was with stock jetting in the used 750 Mighty Demon I picked up off of ebay. Upped the jets a couple sizes and a couple runs later, I hit 11.93 @ 113.97 It had a bit of a bog or something a few feet out of the hole so I decided to change the pump cam back to the stock pink one. That resulted in the front maxing out on the suspension and the car lurching to the right. The final run of the night I took out a couple lbs of air in the tires and ran an 11.97 @ 113.67 with a nice straight launch but that bog was back.
The last run is the only one I got on video so here it is 3.2 MB wmv

Re: New best time on the motor!
congrats on the new best.. this summer, i'll be looking for 11's myself..
since its an old mighty, it must be downleg boosters, right?? what kind of jets did it come with?? and what are you running now??
that would be a solid cam.. i ran that in my first motor.. 248/248 @.050" and .525"/.525" lift 110LSA..

Re: New best time on the motor!
Yeah it's the older Mighty with downleg boosters. The jets were 75/83 stock and right now are 77/83 6.5 PV, pink pump cams, 31 tube style squriters. Ran out of time to step the secondary side up 2 jet sizes to see what would happen. The new plug I put in for a run looked brand new afterwards.

Good Numbers ! I wonder how far that 350 6 inch rod motor will go now? how much compression is in it? I would try upping the squirter size for the bog..35 or 37 should take care of it, If it`s mechanical they also have a nice 1:1 linkage bar that can offer a whole new way to tune that carb.

i was looking into one of those for my demon but that would KILL your gas mileage.. and i didnt even get the tune down on my carb yet.. i wonder how it would be like on the street.. neck snapping at the blip of the throttle..

Re: New best time on the motor!
I'm going to keep pluggin at it to see what I can get out of it It's running 10.5:1 compression. The only time the engine didn't bog down was when I first switched to the pink pump cam and only stalled the engine to 3,000 rpm. The car lurched sideways and maxed out the front suspension. The next run I lowered the tire pressure from 14 to 12 and tried leaving at a bit above 3000 rpm. Only thing I can think of is the throttle was open too much for a good pump shot.
Just a Thought.

Re: New best time on the motor!
Nope haven't tried it yet. Another thing to do is leave some slack in the pump arm but that'll suck for driving around the pits.

Re: New best time on the motor!
The pink cam is a good one to use for foot/trans breaking and still decent on the street. all I would do is change out the diaphram to 50cc and re-ajust the arm to spec, you might have to mess with the shooter size a little since it will be a longer discharge, but it should clear up any holes in the fuel when footbraking and not affect regular driving/throttle response at all.

P.S Also if it starts to bog, drop the PV down a little, 4.5 works pretty good. Imho.
