Finally got a 1/4mi pass on juice

Track got everything repaired, new guardrails installed so they opened up T&T tonight back to 1/4mile. This a.m. i got the bottle topped off since i wanted a 9 second slip in street form.

it ran consistant 10.11's @ 130mph, but just would'nt go any faster I never tried anything higher than the 150shot, and i left the timing pulling 6* out, there is room ro lean out the nitrous solenoids, but running pump gas i'm not going to tempt fate even though i do have a safe window to do it.

1.36 60' with the back tires and spinning a bit...it's been consistant 1.33's
4.062 330'
6.377 1/8mi @ 105.95mph
8.394 1000'
10.114 1/4mi @ 130.48mph

I could've easily pulled the subwoofers out of the back and gotten the 9 second slip, i could've easily dropped the exhaust and gotten the 9 second slip, but it just would'nt have been the same, i want these numbers in 100% pure street legal form all the way, all 3700lbs of it. i could've jumped it upto a 200shot or even a 250shot, but did'nt feel like putting int he work and 150shot is about as far as i want to go with 93 octane. Oh well, maybe if the weather gets a little better it might pull it off, it' close. Or maybe if the track is working better it'll help, i dunno Still had alot of fun, the 1-2 gear change was fast, the car felt strong upto the 1/8mi, but after the 1/8mi i bout fell asleep on the back half as it seem to take foooorever to get to the finish line. On the motor i trap 6600rpm, with the juice i was only trapping 7000rpm...shouda been closer to 7600...oh well, good time though.

I'm running 34* with a locked out dizzy. In the past before i got the adjustable timing controller i just had a 4* pill in the high end retard, car ran fine, plugs looked fine, but the fact i'm running pump gas on an already higher compression motor (11.8:1) I'm just trying to err on the conservative side. I've always heard the NX stuff is calibrated a little fat on the fuel solenoid side and a guy can easily drop back 1-2 numbers on that jetting and still be fine/safe, but again, just err on the safe side, dont need nothing going boom boom getting over zelious, esspecially since we have $7K up for grabs this weekend.

IHI give that motor 2 more deg and let it eat. You say it feels lazy on the big end you could try a 3.89 gear set might pick it up some.

After i kick all these guys azzes that showed up this weekend for the big race today, i'll pull back the timing a few degrees and see what happens, track will be muuuuch better so it may be just enough to get that 9.999999999999 slip in street trim

Ross, i'm trying to sell my junk, i dont want to blow it up, nor invest in a new gear set:P some of my juicey juice buddies told me last night that the 150 shot will do everything in the first 600', after that, once i'm in high gear i'm feeling exactly what it does on the back side with a 150 shot...nothing. LOL!!

Re: Finally got a 1/4mi pass on juice

going to be running my car again shortly... i found out that i have been running 29-30 degrees n/a instead of 36ish like i was thinking.
the other night i flipped the nitrous arming switch on and made a pass. progressive controller is kaput, so noids did not come on. i was pulling 8 degrees of timing, though. went a 7.26@94.
cooled car off and made another pass with the 8 degrees back in it, and it went a 7.30@94. pretty much the same 60' on both passes.

at that point i was like wtf? why did it not go a good bit slower with 8 degrees pulled out?? hope to find something out today.

ugh....hopefully you can figure it out quickly!!! i've had a few timing issues in the past, and i know it's important, but until you get into a situation like this does it really come to light HOW important even 1-2* can be....

Re: Finally got a 1/4mi pass on juice

my air fuel ratio went up almost .5 when i put timing back into the nitrous shot. 34 is my n/a timing, i pulled 4 the first time out, still rich, jetted down 1 size on fuel, got it at 10.5 to 1 air fuel. Timing up to 2 degrees pulled, and it went to about 11.0 to 1. Feels strong hopefully tomorrow i'll find out how strong it is. I really hope i go atleast 128 mph. Gonna jet down 1 more size and shoot for 12 to 1

ditch those flowmasters and put on some dynomax ultra-flos and you will meet your goal no problem. We picked up .3 on a car by swapping out mufflers and had to add jets to the carb because it was able to flow more air.

That' costs money and i'm trying to sell my junk

Just dropping the exahust alone would get me there, i'm sure of it...but then it's not a street car capable of mimicing the same performance i can do on the track, on the street....and that's my whole gig/goal. I want this car to be able to back up whatever, whenever...though it's a slug by today's standard's in cars since today's 10's are yesterday's 13's.

aint gunna be no testing this thing this weekend, holy cow, i've never seen this many cars at our track ever 1.5 hrs to run out the box class....amazing what putting up decent money does..brings all the cars out of the wood work. wish i was still in it, but i red lit first round, then was overly cautious buy back round nothing worse than having you car run the number and losing...I'm hoping since all season Saturday has always been my good day and sunday's suck, that this weekend saturday sucks since payout is only $2k, and sunday/tomorrow will be my good day since it's $5K up for grabs

Sure tell it's the end of the year, 8 cars and 1 bike blew up, then one jr' dragster snapped in half at the big end before 2nd round time runs were completed...gunna be a loooong night for them boys out there.

Sounds like our final race last Sunday. None of the bracket cars broke but they had a fastest street car shootout and there was lots of carnage from them and all on the starting line which shows how good the traction was.

First one to break was a Chev shortbox pickup with a 540. He blew the pinion right out the side of a 9".
An early 60's pickup broke an axle which also took out a diff.
A C6 Vette blew a diff
One mustang broke an axle
Another mustang broke a tranny input shaft
An old Dodge Dart broke something inside the engine. The tin cover over the lifter valley was pushed upwards and the engine had a bad knock.
A Chevelle broke a rocker as soon as he came up on the converter and had a big carb backfire.
One of the pro street cars that runs mid 7's took out all his forward gears in the last round and came back up the return road in reverse.

That's what I knew of but here's the official count.

Transmissions - 4
Axles/differentials - 4
Engines - 2

Lemme see:
$50 to fill nitrous bottle
$220 for T&T and two day race entry
$130 in food and beer
$178.63 for gas in the tow rig, fuel jugs, car, generator
$50 buy back
$50 buy back most likely tomorrow LOL!!

for one weekend, figure how many race weekends are in a season, then add in hotels and more fuel for traveling and such. the past 5 years it averages me $10-15,000 to run a season, last year was $25,000 for the season since i blew the engine and had to have it rebuilt. figure, figure if i keep the car it'll be at least $3K to get the ET i would want for next season. the fact as of last year i could've paid for my house and had over $30K in saving for what i had vested into racing in 8 yrs......

yeah, i need out. Have'nt had a vacation since 1993 cept the 3 day out of town race weekends. just time to step back and be there for my daughter. $10-15K a year racing....just think if a guy banked that for her college, she's be set by the time she was ready for college....and in reality, alot of the guys that do well, i'm not a stud, but i fair well enough i typically bring home money at every event, but my $10-15K yearly operating expense is chump change....it costs money if you really want to be a player, simple as that. talent can get you so far, money takes you the rest of the way.

oh i know the operating costs for racing. honestly it would be cheaper to just give me the motor and i'll give you a camcorder to record all those family events you'll be attending.

Good to see you putting family first.

On the engine dyno with this second motor it "showed" and i use that word lightly since every dyno is different, it showed:
636hp @ 6100
600tq @ 5100

I took a jug of 93 octane i get from the fly'n j down the road and a jug of 110 race fuel, and i told the guy i wanted to wringe out as much power as i could on the pump gas-SAFELY. It was still a little fat at those numbers above, but it was safe, so i said we're done and loaded it into the truck. On the track though, the car is a bit slower than the numbers the dyno puked out, actually the first version of this engine when i picked the pieces ran about .2 faster than it does now, and that was with the wrong convertor, so in reality that first motor "shouda" been a 10.30-10.40 motor...but until i redo this and pick new parts, i'll never know LOL!!

and for the record, throw enough money at your car and it'll leave like my junk does

one from 3 or 4 weeks ago
