Stock LG4 sniffing 12's

My daughter tried out the winter mods (SFC's + S10 TC) on Saturday at Kilkare (Dayton, OH) and was very happy: new bests all around.... 1.67 60', 13.05 ET, 103.7 mph. Her previous best 60 last year was a 1.79, so this was a new experience for her! We'll go to Tristate (Hamilton, OH) when it opens in a few weeks and let her get that 12-sec slip.......it went 13.1 there last Fall on the 1.79 60'. My car was also ET'ing and MPH'ing poorly on Kilkare's timers, despite great 60's.
Her engine is stock internally complemented with a 90-shot of giggle gas, complete junkyard TPI exhaust system, junkyard 3.73 Torsen rear, Hoosier 26 x 10 slicks on stock Pontiac wheels. There was daylight under the left front on that 1.67 leave!

Not bad for a sleeper girl car....lol!

So it did that on gas? Guess it isnt bad, but i am dead set on 12s on motor for a 5.3 or better, but that seems like it is setup right for the ET to MPH.

Yes, on the 90 shot.
Don't get me wrong, folks......I'm not bragging that this car is some kind of giant killer. Just making the point that if your goal is simply collecting quick timeslips, then even the anemic 305 can do it for CHEAP! $1200 for the car, $200 for the SFC's, $35 for the TC, $230 for the plate kit, and $100 for the wheels & slicks. Well under $2 grand for quite a bit of fun.

Re: Stock LG4 sniffing 12's

so the 305s are strong enough to handle nos? i might look into it. i dont think theres another way to get this car in the low 13s or even high 13s. at least with a low budget haha.

Re: Stock LG4 sniffing 12's

i ran about 5 bottles through my 305 running a 100 shot last season. just put in colder plugs and let it eat! i do recommend pulling a few degrees of timing to start

Heck yes they're strong enough. Just another SBC. All you have to do to make these engines survive anything up to a 150 shot is give it enough fuel and stay conservative on the timing.
I'd highly recommend running colder plugs and making sure the fuel pump is up to par if you plan to run more spray, like anything over a 100 shot. Even then, you should do what I did: started at about a 40 shot and read the plugs (more than just one!) as I stepped up the jets to the current 90 shot. Still running stock plugs in this one. I don't even know what the timing is set at. It's timed by ear to run NA on 87 octane without ever hearing a ping in the summer heat. When racing it, we make sure it's pure 93, and we don't change the timing.

Wow man that is fast! Me and her will have to race soon That would be one hell of a race if i can get my trans to hold I need to get my 60' down! I know a shop in Hamilton that will run TRUE DUAL exhaust with no converters or anything lol he hooked me up. True dual 2.5" with Hooker glass packs! $225 exhaust system lol. That helped my car by .5
