Could have used one this past season. I was actually offered a loaner, but when I found out the transmission bellhousing was cracked, I just set to car off to the side and started running a different car.

I used to have an all stock 350 shortblock that had 80k on it sitting around that I got for free, when I blew my procharger combo I threw that in with my cam and top end to finish season. I was very happy to have gone 10.8s on an old bone stock shortblock from an early 80s truck.. It was a bomb waiting to happen but kept my car moving most important and racing.. No longer have a back up at all right now, but would do that again in a second if I had a stocker sitting here and in need.

Re: back up motor

used to keep a spare trans, and engine and a few other small parts. Now I'm too broke to keep all that around after stuff breaks. So the only spare things I have now are fuses

Re: back up motor

I have a backup engine and tranny. Haven't needed them since I've had um. Car was a little slower with the backup. with the 406 it runs low 6.20s and the 383 it runs low 6.40s. Didn't intend on having a backup. Built the 406 first and spun the main bearings in 12 1/8 mile passes. Built the 383 to finish the season. My machinist said he could fix the block, so I put it back together.
