Trailer
I figured this would be the most appropriate place to share this video. Sure would be nice to have, for those who need to trailer their cars regularly.

Hard to open doors is standard fair even for stock height 3rd gens. I've been through that on a few trailers. Sometimes the doors clear them, sometimes not. Depends on the trailer.

Re: Trailer
I'm lucky. I take my fiberglass door off before putting the car into the trailer.
That hydraulic lift design looks interesting but I doubt it would be practical for use as a car trailer. At least not for the added cost.

Re: Trailer
Was the trailer even wide enough for a car? It didnt look like it to me but I couldnt really tell. I bet they are expensive. Making some wood ramps to pull the truck up on to angle the trailer down is alot cheaper to me!

Re: Trailer
Standard sizes are 6'2" wide x 11'4" long or 16' long (2 stock versions)
So yes, very tight fit. Only 1" per side.
But the lift version is custom built top each individual buyers specs & it would not surprise me to find out that these can be built to a customers desire too.
This one would solve the door clearance problems to the fenders, to get in or out easily.

Re: Trailer
How about a remote control for the hydraulic lift? They have wireless controls for winches. Have the remote with you, drive onto the trailer then have it lift up so you can open the door.

Re: Trailer
they never showed the platform lifting while having a heavy load on it. i wonder what the load time would be.
and yes, they are very pricey, my old boss has a trailer that he used to deliver fuel products. it has hydraulic forks, carries up to 2 tons of product. it broke this last winter and he was quoted $10k to replace it with a USED one.

Re: Trailer
I saw this thread and thought I would share what I consider by best investment to date. Last winter I bought a Tilt-a-Hitch and an electric trailer jack. I bought a cheap electric jack from Harbor Freight instead of the pricey one from Tilt-a-Hitch. This setup makes loading and unloading simple and fast. I would definately recommend this to anyone who is having issues loading.

Re: Trailer
ya i guess that could happen I've had dumber stuff break on me at the track, it seems to eat up my paychecks pretty well too. Although I haven't had to really stress the jack to move the tongue up maybe 6 inches on my suburban. Never lifted the tow vehicles tires off the ground, so I can't imagine there could be 6,000 pounds being lifted ever.

Re: Trailer
Actually it's only jacked up until the nose is past the ramps, then I have to drop the jack so the nose doesn't rub on the dove tail part of the trailer. The joys of a lowered f-body. The nose on camaros is just so long and the ground effects lower it as well.

Re: Trailer
mine tends to snag the D rings that are welded near where the ramps are. other than that, my only problems are the toque arm crossmember/dshaft loop scrubs at the top of the dovetail, and i sometimes cant get my door open due to the fender. i dont have to do any special lifting of the front of the trailer or anything like that.

I use a sloan quick load rollback, best trailer i ever owned. The axles roll allthe way front no ramps! Has built in lights in the floor and built in tool boxes. Very easy to use and 5degree angle. I had bought it to load my my fiero that has a v8 but now i use it to pull my camaro to the track.
