Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
If you have a combination running quicker than 12.0 on pump gas, than layout your combination. List your E.T. and mph, and what engine, trans, and suspenion set ups do you have. Lets give fellow members the upper hand.

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
Lets see. Back when I was running pump gas way back in 1999 and 2000....
383 stroker
010 block
Cast 350 pistons
Stock 400 rods and rod bolts
Weiand X-CELerator single plane intake manifold
BG 850 Speed Demon double pump carb
Ported double hump heads with 2.02/1.60 valves
1-5/8" full length open headers
Crane solid flat tappet cam http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-114691/
TH350 with 3800 stall converter
Stock 3.27 gears in a 9 bolt with 26" tall slicks
Basic stock suspension other than aftermarket components such as torque arm, LCA and panhard.
I can't remember what my race weight was at the time but I managed a 11.847 @ 117.87 MPH at altitude. It worked out to a sea level corrected of 11.163 @ 126.1 MPH. Best 60' time was 1.662
That engine was a tired old street engine. I pushed it for 2 years and made 200 passes on it, spinning it to 7000 rpm before it finally let go.
Not everybody's combination may be right for you. I never care who I line up against. Most of the time I have no idea what kind of car I'm up against. Body style or powerplant means nothing when you're on the dragstrip. Make enough passes down the track and you'll lose the inferiority complex about losing to some other type of car. If you want to run just as fast as xxx brand car, then buy xxx brand car. If you want to run a third gen then do whatever modifications you want to go fast but don't complain if some other brand can still beat you especially if it's a newer car.

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
I just got my car to where I could drive it still not runnig to suit me yet. I have not had it to the track yet and do not know exactly what to expect. I am not sure if it will run below a 12.0 or not it should be close. But reguardless the engine is a 355, flat top pistons with 2 valve reliefs, sportsman II heads, gasket matched and bowl blended 64cc milled .025". solid flat tappet cam comp XS282S. Victor intake, 750 Mighty Demon Carb, MSD ignition. 1 3/4" headers, 3" dual exhaust. 3000 stall converer, TH400 trans, ford 9" with 4.11 gears, 315/35/17 drag radials, complete suspension upgrade.

Sounds like an 11 seconed set up to me. The only thing you have against you is the weight of the car and what power you end up with after you put it through that T-400 and 9 inch rear.

More power will come later as the money allows. On the initial build I wanted start with a solid foundation when it came to the trans, rearend, and suspension.

Sounds like a solid combination. Better have some good suspension reaction to get those low pros to stick good.

11.89@ 111
Stock block (dished cast pistons) 400sbc (9.0 compression) with a 100shot of n2o
In my sig for the rest
my last combo was a 383sbc(11.0 compression), everything the same except

I was just stating the obvious. It's good you started with all the good stuff but it may be the only thing in your way of a 11.99 pass.

Man, I'm so close...
12.02 @ 112
'82 Berlinetta, stock 2001 LS1 shortblock with LS6 cam & intake, 28 lb injectors, ARP rod bolts, Melling oil pump, shaved 317 heads, L92 valve springs, Hawks 1-3/4" primary 2-1/2" collector LTs into 3" catback w/Magnaflow single in/out; 4L60E tranny with 3500 stall and Transgo shift kit; 3.73 gears on 28-spline Auburn posi, welded axle tubes, aluminum support cover; Hoosier 26-9.50x14 Quick Time Pro DOTs. LCARBs, BMR adjustable torque arm, boxed stock LCAs w/poly bushings. Stock tune. 3450 lbs going down the track.
Oh, did I mention I drove it to work today? And each day last week? (Not on the Hoosiers, of course - I switch from highway radials to the Hoosiers at the track.)
BTW, Victor intake and 3000 stall is a mismatch. You either need more stall, or less intake. A Performer RPM would match the stall, 4500 stall would match the intake (and you probably don't have enough cam for 4500 stall). If your intake is a Victor Jr., then 4000 stall would probably work.

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
Some impressive setups on here.
Does E85 count as pump gas? Anyway, new motor has gone 11.30 @122mph with a 1.582 60ft. on E85. 010 decked block with billet main caps. 13.8-1 ross pistons, Eagle rods, 350cube, lightened stock forged crank, Dart Pro1 heads, 60132 Lunati Solid roller. 578/588 278/288. Pro form 850cfm. Hooker long tubes with 3" duals. Turbo400 with a brake, 4000stall, 3.88 gear w Detroit locker. 26x10 slick.
Old Pump gas Motor went 11.86 @ 116mph. The setup was everything listed above, except that it was a completely stock early LT-1 shortblock.
I'm hoping to crack into the 10's next year with new 28 x 10.5 slicks and a new cam. I drive this car on the street all the time with E85 without a problem.

I run E-85 in the company truck sometimes, and it is available at several gas stations so I would consider it pump gas.

How come you didn't get your AFR castings ported? or are the Speier heads THAT much better? I really enjoy your build threads BTW

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
I honestly don't know the weight of the car. I was pretty surprised at the speed myself. I don't have enough track time to know where everything's supposed to be at and what's normal, but I was pretty happy with those numbers as a 19 year old with his first engine build.

I haven't seen the time slip in a while but i'm pretty sure it was 8.0@101 for the 1/8.

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
Yea I agree that is a mild build to run in the 11's and not to mention that type of mile per hour would mean your making some serious HP. Small cam and sub par heads really shouldn't make that power at all I would be impressed if it was a solid 13 second car

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
I could be wrong, that was almost a year ago and it was only my second time racing it. I might've looked at the wrong lane, rookie mistake. But i know recently my brother and dad ran it a couple of months ago and ran 12.47. He didn't tell me any mile per hour or 1/8 times. What do you think a 150shot would do to that combo?

I am not going to disagree with you, but I plan on just driving it until I decide what I want to do with an engine upgrade. It has only been on the road since mid October and I would like to take it to the track next spring to get a base line.

Re: Who is running quicker than 12 sec. 1/4 mile
I can see maybe the 11.85 with a terrific sixty foot with that setup, but then again it was only his second time racing so I doubt he was below 2.00 in the sixty. As far as the trap though, I agree, 127-mph is way too fast for what he has. Perhaps he meant 11.85 @ 117-mph, and even then I can't see that happening with an essentially green driver...
