New Years Resolutions? Have any?
Not really.
But I'm keen to make this happen although at my current pace it could be New Years 2022!
Was:
12.64 @ 106.8
Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 321.50 rear wheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 320.47 rear wheel HP.
Resolve to:
11.99@ 112.5
Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 376.67 rear wheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 374.57 rear wheel HP.
Need to find a bag with 50 horsepower in it.

1.Lose 100+ lbs on the car
2. Run an 8 second pass (never took this combo to a 1/4 track yet)
3. Like to run a 5.5x pass in the 1/8th, (8.77 converted to the 1/4) by the end of the year

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I'd like to actually take it to a 1/4 for the first time. Should be in the 11s.
Hopefully some autox as well AND we're hoping to do a nav rally along the cabot trail in Cape Breton... I believe it's being held in part by a classic European car club, so there are going to be a lot of "cute" cars and then my obnoxious car.

my goal is to get the car quicker than 11.50 and get booted from the track for not having a roll-bar

Get the car off the rotisserie and capable of at least a short test drive around the block. Drivetrain, suspension, and enough supporting parts to run and drive. Given how screwed up my part organization has become after two moves, it's gonna be a real challenge.

I'd like to redo my exhaust (that currently has terrible ground clearance), and I'd like to fine tune the suspension in the rear to get more cornering grip. Then I'd like to drive it a bunch more this year, and tune some more.

Get it on the road (Exhaust, wheels/tires, steering, gauges, finishing touches everywhere)
Get it tuned (AFR/Vac Gauge to get it close)
Hopefully take it to the local 1/8th mile sometime this year.

Carbed LM7 I see. How's that treating you? There may be one of those in my future too.
With an AFR and in dash vacuum gauge, you should be able to nail the tune. Especially if you can dedicate some time at the track. It was over the course a a few months (a seasons worth of driving) that I was comfortable with the results. Both performance and economy wise.

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
Still a ways away from getting it on the road, but it starts right up even in the Nebraska cold. Kind-of expensive to set the motor up to run a carb compared to leaving the FI stuff on, but tuning should be simpler. I'll let you know more if/when I get it dialed in

Start upgrades. lb9 305 (I know, I know) Headers and exhaust for the first two upgrades which are coming soon. I'm pretty new to the site. I just got my car about 5 months ago after looking for a while. I want the ride to be quicker but not so fast the wife is scared to drive it.
Flowtech headers and GMMG exhaust to start. Then I'm probably back on the no spend (wife) for a while!

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I've no shame in saying I've hot rodded a 305.
When the 350 went I had a 305 in reserve (not certain where it even came from as its been a while). Headers and intake. Worked the timing and carb. It wasn't a rocket by any stretch but it had that V8 sound. Drove around in 2nd gear a lot!

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
The operative word there are "too much".
A lot of the bolt on stuff can swap over. The TPI on the LB9 kind of gets in the way but certainly headers and exhaust can be addressed. Typically number one on the hit list.

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I left my 305 stock internally and added DynoDons headers and a 100-150hp NOS nitrous wet kit. That made it much mroe enjoyable for a few years time. Went through almost 30 tanks of nitrous in 5 years with it. It stayed perfectly intact but I pulled it out last january for the 406 sbc. The 305 is now sitting in the garage disassembled to a short-block with most parts in a storage box. I might experiment in learning to do a basic engine build on it (for cheap) with just simple gaskets, seals, and whatnot. Then figure out a fun way to put it into my 1995 Jeep Wrangler one day. TPI jeep wranglers exist; I'd like to build my own.

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I appreciate you guys feedback. I'm ordering the headers from Hawks next week. Do you guys have any other recommended vendors? I really would like a company that I can pretty much "complete" my small build through.

Is this a case of posting in the wrong thread because of the dreaded "related thread" links at the bottom of this one?

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
The goal for this year is to go faster, I think i have milked my 496 for all it is worth. The car is back halved but all metal except the hood. I picked up a 572 tall deck short block for a reasonable price and it only needed a little deck work to straighten it out. I plan on going with BBC 3 Brodix heads and manifold. It will be about 13.5 -1 and should be a nice little bracket motor.
We will probably have to cut into the inner front fender wells, and somehow tie that back into the cage and frame, to make room for the forward facing headers but other than that I think we can squeeze it in.
Should be a fun winter project

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I have a few goals, the first is break 12’s n/a, the second is to finish my build. Currently running n/a with a low compression forged internals lt1 (around 9:1.)
I have the welder and the turbo, just need the blow through and carb hat, fabricate a bunch of stuff and a bunch of odds and ends and do alot more reading. Havent felt motivated to crack open “maximum boost” until after i get a bit closer to doing the work.
first time at the track last weekend, only three passes, this was my best that night:
Im having a top end issue it feels like it doesnt pull quite as hard on the top end as it does at launch and mid track. I think its valve float or a fueling issue (broke a valve spring on the highway otw back from the track). So i think I shod break 12s once i get that figured out.

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
Made a decision to keep the 3rd gen, sold a few other cars that were taking time/money away from my racing.
Time now to repair engine, fix power steering leak, restore firewall insulation, crack check chassis, grease wheel bearings.
Get my vaccination shots and then race it again at Laguna Seca in the IMSA GTO/GTP race group this August.

Re: New Years Resolutions? Have any?
I plan to get mine back on the road this year. It needs exhaust, SFC’s, an alignment, the interior finished, and the carburetor tuned. The paint job and upgraded wheels/tires are a ways off.

It stated out simple enough, my buddy said hey lets put that 572 gm block in it. lol. Now you add Race Craft cc plates to the list, apparently Qa-1 plates only work with Qa-1 shocks
