Roll Call

Just to try and stir up some activity in this board, how is everyone (and their cars) doing?

Halfway through projects? Give us an update. Having trouble getting it on the road? Let us know! Moved on the other vehicles? Tell us. (Traitors!) New here? Introduce yourself....

_____
I'll start it off- I'm still on the search for another firebird! I'm seeing more LS1s for sale lately, I was hoping I'd see more TPIs in the paper. Even camaros are tempting me now!

Car: too many ...
I've been busy trying to balance fixing up the house and fixing the cars. Doing the multiple projects thing sucks. Z28 still doin T56 swap, IROC-Z still finishing up the exhaust, B4C currenty fixing the brakes and suspension rebuild, G/F's Z28 still needs a transmission among other things. I just wish I had a bigger garage I could get things done quicker. Right now so many of the cars are down, moving them around to make space to fix others has become a problem! House still needs to be painted too!! Alot of work and only a few hours a day to get it done ...

Right now my primary goal is to get my IROC-Z back on the road (to make space in the garage), then #2 on my list is to finish up the B4C brakes, suspension, and interior and sell it. Anyone here interested? Its gonna be a deal for a B4C!!!

We should have another cruise soon. Hopefully after I get some of my cars going again hehe. But hey if not I'll show up in whatever, maybe even a 240 hehehe.

Right now, IROC is happy. The gas tank I got from James works great, the pump access MOD is perfect, fuel gage finally works and I can finally do cheap sending unit and pump replacements. GPS means I'm not swerving all over the road trying to read a map and drive at the same time, and installing the 1LE front brakes is doable since I picked up an extra set of A-arms with new Moog ball joints installed. It's been four years since a tuneup on the TPI 5.7. Driven every day, have not touched any tuning stuff since MSD distributor and new spark plugs... Still gets close to 20 mpg in traffic... dreams of road trips getting stronger...

Still got the RS & still haven't finished it...haha! Just recently pulled the motor & trans (FINALLY!). 383 is tucked away & sleeping nicely on its engine stand waiting to go in & yes, it's still gonna be a dual quad setup! I've decided to keep the 9 bolt rear & got some secret stuff being done to it right now to handle the torque of the 383. This project is about a year behind right now because I've been so fricken busy with video projects & the raising of my daughter. Same as Shawn, I've only got a few hours a day to do things now! Eventually this car will be done! hahaha!

hey guys. My engine is built and ready to go in, but i need a stall converter first. i was going to put the stock one back in for now and replace it when i redo that tranny, but....i towed my car from hickam to k-bay and forgot to tie in the old converter, so as it was spinning, it fell off on the highway somewhere. haha. anyways, as soon as i can save up a little money i am going to get that stall converter and reinstall the engine. after its in, and the rings are sealed, i'll plan to redo the tranny and suspension, followed by the rear-end eventually.

Damn nice, Chris!

Might want to update your cam specs. The lift is listed as duration, but anything over.5 should be fun.

Hey, guess where I'm probably going to be working soon... Mitsubishi, of all places! A friend from Pontiac is getting promoted over at Mitsu and she wants me to sell cars again.

well, i have my 1989 TA in the body shop now, and should have it back out in a week, AKA: JUNE 10, 2006. The guy is doing a fantastic job. The body work is meticulous and the paint will be a deep amethyst pearl, with siver hood bird and accents. It really sucks cuz i am about 6 months out from PCS. Now it is looking really complicated/cost prohibitive to get the car off this island. I guess I will be looking to sell, get 4-5 grand out of it, and hope to find a garage queen for under 10 back in the states.

$50-250 will move your car off-Guam. Commander Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific (COMNAVSURFGRU MIDPAC) runs the OPLIFT program within the Middle Pacific region. This includes lifts between Hawaii, San Diego CA, and occasionally Guam. The program relies on volunteer U.S. Navy ships to transport OPLIFT material. Availability of OPLIFT is dependent on operational schedules and ship load out, so participants should be prepared to wait anywhere from one to nine months for an OPLIFT move. Once a ship is confirmed for OPLIFT, COMNAVSURFGRU MIDPAC will team with FISC Pearl Harbor and/or PWC to ensure your material is safely loaded onboard the vessel.

Hey everyone, been quite a while since I have been on here. I remember there being some problems with the site when they changed over servers or something. Since then my RS has been sitting here rotting it seems. I still need a set of wheels and tires for it, right now the reg is expired since the tires are pretty much bald and will not pass the inspection. Unfortunately new tire are not in the budget right now, not even sure if it is worth it with the state of the car as it is anyhow. Anyone have a 110 volt welder they would rent out for a few days? I am thinking to find some sheet metal and begin repairing the roof. I know...... probably will never look perfect but I really don't care right now. Just wanna get it so that there is no leak to the inside of the car.
She still runs strong for a 305, just looking kinda sad right now. Also want a set of seats from a 4th gen if I ever do get into this project again real deep. But like I said need tires and or rims first. Anyone have a good used set of 16 inch tires for sale? If so lemme know. I have searched the yard here on Schofield and there is nothing right now. Thankis guys! L8RS!

How many tires do you need and what size? Every once in a while I come across alright used tires, but its a crap shoot. Easier to find 225's than it is to find 245's, etc, etc. If you want to buy wheels/tires I would say goto the local car forums and post WTB adds in the For Sale sections and stuff.

EDIT - I checked out tire rack and 245/50HR16 Kumho's are like $50 each on sale right now, thats a deal right there (prolly under $300 for 4 brand new shipped to your door)

Hey crazy, thanks for the help. I am looking for 245's. I just checked tire rack and it comes to like $324 for a set of 4. Not bad. Now all I have to do is sell it on the wife. Then to start on the roof.
Anyone know where I can get some sheet metal to make a patch? Also what gauge steel do I need? Thanks again! L8RS!

Here's someone in the Island Previews selling five 225/55/16's for $100. Says four of em are 60% tread, and the fifth tire is brand new. I know its not exactly what you're looking for but maybe a cheap quick fix. Maybe you can run the four used tires and then sell the brand new one to make some of that money back? I dunno.

Thanks bro, I called the guy on that ad today and picked those up for a $100. They have some life left to them, and will pass the visual inspection and such. No cracking on the sidewalls and such. They will definatel work for me right now while I begin working on it. I may just get it registered and then take it to the auto center on post to start tearing into it there. Again thanks! L8RS!

Most recent work on the IROC has been installation of a BassLinkII sub, pretty good bass output for only taking up one-foot of storage area in the hatch well. My boxes of tools and junk keep the sub from moving around so didn't even bother to bolt it down. Sure makes a difference in the music!

Heh, now I've got the top five posts...
