No need to. I can see that they were milled to 58cc not cast that way. The ones I am looking for were cast at 58cc. I need these because I will be milling them to 50cc for a high compression application. I will pass your build sheet to another TG member/friend who was looking for AFR heads.

They are "race ready" CNC ported (100% exh and chamber,
70% intake)

I'm about 3.5 hrs North of Richmond. (I'm driving down thru
Richmond, to Chapel Hill, NC early in January)

Crane Springs are p/n 99893-16

Bottom $ is the $1000 I lowered the price to...

thanks

Dang, with these 58cc chambers, my compression would go thru the roof I'm afraid. My Sportsman IIs (cast iron) are 64cc and I'm running 10.56 compression now. Would like aluminum heads, and these sound like great ones, but doubt I can handle this much compression....

Yeah, depending on your combo, it would put you around
11.3:1. Although, if you're running 10.56 without detonation
with iron heads, the aluminum will withstand more
compression without detonation because of heat xfer... ymmv

Also, tighten the quench area to 035" - .040", and you'll reduce the risk of detonation even more!

very interested in these heads do you have pictures? since I'm taking it there used, might be in need of a re build. also can you verify that these are not cracked, warped or anything? still able to use STANDARD valve covers?

I take it you had these heads milled to get the chambers so small?

and where is the are these drilled holes for the sensors? building a motor and dont know if i will be needing these

cheers

Just rebuilt in 2002, new springs & exh valves then. Pulled off the motor running strong and have been rechecked ok.
No cracks, not warped. Only centerbolt valve covers. AFR milled
them when I orig ordered them to replace a pair of alum L98
heads (58cc).

Coolant sensor holes drilled in stock locations, between
cyl 1&3 for the CTS, and between 6&8 for the second fan
switch.

I've got a deal pending on them, but not finallized yet.
Heads are off the motor and cleaned up ready to ship.
If the deal falls thru, I'll send pics to everyone that asks.

Sorry folks...

First in line here, and the money is on its way. Mike, my apologies for the tardiness in reply. I was indisposed. Details in PM and email.

FWIW when Mike is selling, buy up. Mike is VERY good about keeping in touch and is very upfront with details. Much like Vernw, who btw needs to check his email from me as well, lol. (Sorry for the threadjack, but I saw that Vern had posted here. Vern, parts incoming!)

K

PS Happy New Year everyone. Stay safe.

How would one go aout doing that? I've never done that and have no idea how to change quench area.....

1) Custom pistons to raise the installed height

2) Zero (or custom) deck the block

3) Install thinner head gaskets (Cometics ROCK!)

Piston depth below deck + head gasket thickness = quench thickness

Ahhh... now I understand, Thanks Mike!

Except wouldn't using a thinner head gasket raise the compression as well? Or do the gains in detonation likelihood offset this?

My pistons are currently .010" in the hole, have to check on the head gasket difference. Sorry to hijack your thread, maybe I should start a thread just for these questions....

Well, that stinks (emails falling out, not us). I resent yesterday's PM just now. In any case, I'm back from LA and the cash is on its way as of today. Sorry for the delay. Almost poetic there if read aloud....

Thanks Mike.
