Moog or Duralast balljoints?

Axle/Gears: 3.45 9 bolt
Moog or Duralast balljoints?
Stuck on which to buy for my 91 Trans Am with WS6. The Duralasts have a lifetime warranty (like the Moogs I believe), are half the price, and both are greasable I believe. I think I might stick with Duralasts but I thought I might as well ask before I get them. Who here has Duralast ball joints, or any suspension parts by them for that matter? How about Moog? Thanks!

just had this debate on my idler arm. the diffence is in the metal purities. the moog is usually a stronger metal, and the off brand can be a recycled pot metal type. also the quality and life duration of the rubber boots is a difference, the moog will outlast there. but with lifetime warranty on both, save your money and fix it regularly, or pay more and fix it longer with moog.

I had put duralast balljoints in my car and they didnt last long. I went to Advance Auto Parts and they sell TRW joints. They seem nicer than the duralast ones.

as if my trans am isn't a money pit as is! hahaha thanks guys. Looks like Moogs it is. How about the idler arm? Moog as well? That part isn't as difficult to replace as ball joints so I think I might stick with the Duralast unit for now.
Anybody know the cheapest place to buy Moog parts? I'm thinking Summit Racing?

BTW, if you replace the idler arm twice, you'll also need two alignments.

I don't know how much money I wasted early in my car learning days, by essentially buying twice: Oh, I'll buy this cheaper version and then replace it with something better later. But each to his own.
BTW, if you replace the idler arm twice, you'll also need two alignments.

I've also heard good things about MC-Quay Norris, and also that Moog has been outsourcing. So check over what you do end up with.
The last time I purchased steering components locally I compared the center link with my old stock one and it was much thinner below the ball joint so I brought it back. I ended up with a GM one because it was the least expensive at the time.

If it's cheaper then that might be the way to go then. Note that the ball joints are sold separate though.

Buying locally also saves on shipping, unless the company offers it for free. I ordered all my stuff from advanced auto and it was the least expensive plus they had free shipping at the time.

It seems as if the stuff I found on Rock Auto pays off the best. All Moog parts for $352.58 shipped. That includes all the parts for a steering rebuild: ball joints, idler arm, inner/outer tie rods, center link, and tie rod sleeves. I couldn't post a link to my shopping cart so here's a screen shot:

Wow you guys are the best!! I didn't even consider Amazon. I just didn't think that it sold car parts. But turns out if I buy the exact same parts off of Amazon, my total comes out to $312.48 shipped! That's compared to the $352.58 I'd pay if I got em off of Rock Auto. ALTHOUGH Amazon is saying that Moog part # K6249 (idler arm) will NOT fit my Trans Am, although it was fine with Summit Racing and Rock Auto. I'm assuming its just a glitch on Amazon's part.

however it can move up and down to adjust the levelness of the centerlink. but if you don't clean and paint the frame between taking off the old one and bolting the new one on there should be a clear outline of where the old washers/bolt sat.

Yeah but Autozone is all duralast parts (no moogs) and Advance Auto Parts doesn't even have most of the parts I need. I'm not even gonna bother with Carquest because I can't find an online catalog for them (and I know that they're usually more expensive) and Napa doesn't have Moog parts, only some "Master Ride Chassis" and "NAPA Chassis Parts."
It seems as if the stuff I found on Rock Auto pays off the best. All Moog parts for $352.58 shipped. That includes all the parts for a steering rebuild: ball joints, idler arm, inner/outer tie rods, center link, and tie rod sleeves. I couldn't post a link to my shopping cart so here's a screen shot:

i know im bringing this thread back from the dead, but i was getting ready to do a full steering rebuild (well almost full, center link, idler arm, inner&outer tie rods and adjustable tie rod sleeves) well i have my cart full of all MOOG parts and its only $217!??? How come prices have dropped sooooo low????? Everything is the same except i dont have the tie rod adjusting sleeves in the cart as i will be going with UMI.
