Found a little motivation this weekend

I did the fabrication work for one of my manifolds yesterday... probably spent about 10 hours on it. All done except a little deburring and drilling the bolt holes to the right size and of course the welding. The guy I was going to have weld them is on vacation this week so I won't be able to show the finished product for a little while yet.

If you want to see the photo, you will have to copy and paste the link to your address bar. It won't take you there directly from thirdgen.org.

I LIKE!! I LIKE A LOT!!

Now THAT is how you do it folks! If I were going to make a twin kit for my daily driver thirdgen, that looks a lot like how Id do it.

Good job!

Thanks Guido. I've been thinking about doing this for a very long time... heck, I've had the turbos now for 9 months. Seeing you and the other people here actually getting it done has "re-lit the flame under my but" so to speak. Lots of guys here doing some great things, like you, Monty, bhaas and superirocz... not to mention the guys doing custom blower installs.

I wonder what became of the others I havent seen anything from in a while like Jester, FAQman and Lil Qik... I wonder who else I'm forgetting.

Anyway, I still have lots to do. I've decided on an A/W IC that I want to integrate into the bonet for the throttle body. I think it will make for a cleaner install and I wont have to worry about a big intercooler in front of my radiator. I'm also working on getting all the tubing ordered for the IC and exhaust out of the turbo... and getting a dual intank pump setup made. With a little luck and a lot of persistance maybe I can have the turbos installed and fully functional by summer.

Nice setup procharged. I didn't know they made allen bit head bolts. What kind of power adder are you going to run and how big of a cam do you have?

I'm running a multi - point victor JR also... mine with the bottom half of a holley 700cfm TBI unit. Whats funny is this setup would actually fit under a stock hood w/o the 1" spacer I'm running under the TB...(w/2 1/2" drop base air cleaner).

These are from this summer... just after I got it driving again. Things still need to be cleaned up a bit in there.
Again, you have to copy and paste the links to see them from thirdgen.org

Did you know there is an adapter to take you from the stock fuel lines to AN fittings?

Nice setup Dan! I like.

You going to be moving your accessories around to make room for the turbos?

those are studs...that pic just shows my motor "mocked up." its torqued down now. ARP put in the hex to make it easier to remove the studs if the need arises. I have a TT setup with gale bank manifolds and twin 60s. Duttweiler speced out my cam: 232/232 .515/.515 (1.6rr) 114LSA/114IC. Its a hydraulic flat tappet

i did a lot of measuring and with the help of Mike S a member on here he helped me figure out the MAX room there was under the camaro hood. So i had my PTE elbow milled down some and the plenuming opening on the victor junior also to fit it under the stock hood

I know I'm good on the drivers side for sure as far as accessories go... might have to do something with the brakes though. The smog pump is already gone... the plan is to ditch the AC but I'm going to take one last look at things once the manifold is on there. If I can find a way to keep it I will.

I was wondering how much fuel the stock lines would support... I've never found a clear answer so after I get the dual pumps installed I was planning to run a test to see if I could get the fuel out of them I need with the bucket/stopwatch system. Are you telling me you have already done this and I shouldn't waste my time?

I tried studs on a past iteration of my motor. I couldn't get them to stop leaking. Must have had those heads off it 4 times trying to fix it/find out exactly what was causing it... at first thought it might be a bad gasket (replaced then tried a different style), maybe a warped head or block, maybe the thread sealer I used. I finially replaced the studs with bolts and the problem went away.
I mentioned it to a local engine builder and he said that its very common with studs (i think he said about 80%)... he said that he puts a can of radiator stop leak into every one he builds with studs for a customer for just that purpose... I didnt like that option and stuck with the bolts.

Youre running alot more cam than I am... by about 14 - 18 degrees more although the lift is similar. I'm suprised by how much top end I still have although I did comprimise to run low stall converter / top speed gear.

There is a magazine article I found out there somewhere on the banks kit from Hot Rod. Do you have it? I can e-mail it to you if you want. There are 5 pages about 700k each.

i am using my original 3/8" feed line as a return line and i bent up a 1/2" aluminum feed line. I wouldn't hesitate to run the dual pumps in the tanks with the stock lines, they will support A LOT of fuel.

i asked my machinist and he told me to put some silicone under every stud and run some stop leak in the radiator. Worked fine for my buddies nitrous motor that went 9.20s and should be fine for mine too

is yours a roller? mine's a flat tappet....i know you need to run more duration to get good lift from a tappet without the lobes being too steep. Also, i just called up Mr Turbo (duttweiler) and asked him to spec me out a cam and this is what he chose *shrug* we'll see how it works
