Nitrous - 305 ????
I have a 1984 z-28 with a 305 L69 engine (Carburator)
Most people say that the 305 does not build up well because its narrow bore makes it difficult to breathe.
Since NOS improves the O2 level of the incoming mixture, does a 305 resond well to NOS ? Would this be a less expensive alternative to replacing the engine with a modestly built 350 ?
Other than headers which are planned are therre other modifications that would be reccomended to make to facilitate the use of NOS (With the exception of purchasing the NOS system)
any reccomendations as to what kind of an NOS system would best match an L69?

Car: 1991 Firebird
Engine: 427 LSX
Transmission: Turbo 400
a turbo is not really low cost. your 305 will respond well to n20 nevermind the bore.
------------------
1991 Firebird
350 L98 (was a 305 TBI),T-5,Edelbrock TES and cat back,Accel manifold
NOS,subframes,jegster torque arm,MSD Digital 6
AFPR,Lakewood lcas
Hurst linelock,SLP cam (206 212 .480 .486),relocated battery,cold air,Hypertech chip,centerforce df,clutch
poly bushings and mounts
AFR 190s
Harland sharp 1.5 rockers
autopower rollbar
12.33 @ 114.83 juiced uncorrected
13.510 @ 102 non juiced uncorrected

like bird said- anything will respond well to forced induction, regardless of bore, the motors not really being "allowed" to breathe under nitrous, its more or less "forced to inhale". a 305 will respond just as well as a 350 under nitrous, though the 350 may be quicker motor against motor.
If youre worried about the amount of airflow youre getting to your 305, its not the bore youre worrying about, its the cylinder heads, intake manifold, carburetor diameter, headers, exhaust, and cam profiling. granted a bigger bore will allow the engine to draw in more air, but on a 305, its mainly the things listed above that are keeping your motor from reaching its maximum breathing capacity.
