Thoughts on my Weiand 142 after 3 months...
I've read alot of turbo stuff lately and that may be in my future (for the van lol). Before that happens I wanted to post my feelings on my wee little Weiand 142 since I've read countless bashings of the roots blower.
This is the only mod I've EVER done where I'm still thrilled 3 months later. I get bored easily. Most of the time the "new parts wow" wears off after 2 weeks. The blower is an addiction...
IMO the 142 has made the car more pleasing to drive in every situation. It drives fine around town and comes off idle smooth. I can fire the pizza cutters off in the middle of 2nd no prob. On the highway it's a monster. Any time I get into the secondaries on a 4-3 downshift it's all 5 lbs RIGHT NOW. In fact, if the pedal is on the floor at any RPM I get all 5 lbs.
I fix over engineered junk every day at work. I can bet you I have a "low flow EGR" code in my future tomorrow. I can't stand that sheeeet anymore. I take joy in the simplicity of the 142. It's kinda like an intake manifold with moving parts haha. Nothing more. A belt here some gear lube there and pow boost on tap.
I drive 36 miles to work every day at 70-80 mph. I get around 15 mpg. This includes the cold weather (20°F) start-ups and the WOT blasts I make regularly. I know it's not stellar but consider I don't have as much money in the entire car as some have in thier injection systems alone...
ok I'm done

Lol, I hear that.
Got any more plans for the M-bodies? A 350 TBI with a Weiand 142 TBI kit would move pretty darn well in one. Hint, Hint.

He's got an AWD, think with a T-case my prediction is "going up" if you know what I mean. Probably a motor too, but lift is my prediction. and Man, a 142 would be a TIGHT fit with a carb or even a smaller TBI unit on top.

Yes the L-body started as an AWD but is now 4WD. Gotta have that extra lever you know
I would love to do another roots blower on the Stro but I want to keep the 6 cyl. I've done alot of V8 conversions and would like to try boost on the 4.3. There's so much room under the van I could cut the the y-pipe and weld on a flange for a turbo on no problem. Then run all the piping from there. I make it sound easy!
Anyway, we'll see where it goes. I'm so thrilled with the 142 on the Powla that I think I need boost for the Stro

I'm planning mine right now, thinking PSD turbo for the 305 on the passenger side, may need a pump for oil drainback due to the starter being where it is. Past that, if I was gonna do TBI I'd cram a powerstroke or similar diesel intercooler in the nose (the plan anyways) and get some 65# cop car injectors/new fuel pump and go from there.
