rebuilding my engine
I am looking at swapping out my cam and looking for a good quality cam to replace it with. What are you guys running in your car and do you like it?

Re: rebuilding my engine
Well that's tricky given you haven't said what you want to do with your car. Im using a early LT1 cam out of a firebird in my LTx 305. Seeing as you have a 350 Id say at least a LT4(HotCam) just as a in-general boost....that's if you have a roller block.

Re: rebuilding my engine
I guess i really didn't think about that. I will be having underdrive pulleys. I have a t-5 manual tranny. Stock heads, RPM performer intake and a 650 edelbrock performer carb.

Re: rebuilding my engine
I want to have it a fast street car. I also have aftermarket mid length headers.

Re: rebuilding my engine
I have used about every brand out there over the years. For off the shelf cams I think Howards would be my #1 pick. In fact that's what is in my engine. Has been in for about 4 years now.
Crane use to be real good but have not used one since the company went under and then was bought out.
Elgin is real good for QC but not really an up to date company all of their grinds are very old tech profiles, but I do still like and use them if an engine I'm building needs something like what they offer. Same goes for speed pro and melling brands.
Isky is real good, so is Lunati.
I do not like Comp cams. I will not use or install one in any engine I build. Back years ago before the zinc levels in the oil was a major prob, Comp brand was the ONLY cam I ever lost a lobe on. After some testing and research come to find out they had quite a large number of cams that did not get the hardening they should have. That and the way the company handled the prob just rubbed me the wrong way so never gave them my money again.
