Thirdgen.org is running terribly slow

For the last 3 months I've been having a real problem trying to log onto the site. I takes about 5-10 minutes between clicks to get the page to come up. I have high speed internet and don't have this problem with any other website. Please help me out and give me some pointers. I'm tired of logging on at camaroz28.com! Thanks

Re: Thirdgen.org is running terribly slow

Taking 5-10 minutes for each page to load? If that was the case for the majority, we'd have a mass of complaints on the forums and via email. We'd also have a sharp loss of activity, too. Neither appears to be the case. I have also not experienced such issue. If this was a server issue, or on the server side, all would be affected.

There are a few things to check, on your side.

1) What browser are you using?

2) Does it appear to be a rendering issue? Does the page take a long time before it appears? Or does it load in stages?

3) What does your CPU usage look like when you're on the forums?

4) Can you post a traceroute to thirdgen.org?

5) Does this issue occur on the forums and main index page (http://www.thirdgen.org) , or just one?

Something to keep in mind is, with the way the Internet is built, just because you do not experience an issue with another website, that does not, by default, make the issue on the other end. In short, the path between you and each server will vary by different backbones and regions.

Re: Thirdgen.org is running terribly slow

This has to be a browser issue. In the last few days alone I've browsed TGO with IE7/Windows XP, IE6/Windows XP, Firefox/Windows XP, and at the moment, Firefox/Ubuntu Linux.

Maybe a quick scan with Ad-Aware would be helpful.. (http://www.lavasoftusa.com - just get the free version). Try deleting temporary Internet Files (cache) in IE. Just a couple of quick things worth trying.

Re: Thirdgen.org is running terribly slow

in my case the worst of the lag is when i go to type a reply out -it takes forever and ever for text to appear

i notice that my iexplore.exe in my task manager has a high K of memory usage

for example, right now it is using 24,660K with only two internet exploder windows open, both of this site

this problme never started until about a year ago or so and it is VERY frustrating

i have tried firefox and opera,

a different computer

formats and reinstalls of windows xp

disabling all addons in the browser

and so on

all to no avail

its crazy

if anyone knows a fix then lemme know

Re: Thirdgen.org is running terribly slow

I too have found that I can type faster than the computer is displaying on this site only. I have to go back over everything I type and add the letters that were dropped by the PC. It does get annoying and I wish I knew what it was.
