Re: Alternator overdrive pulley. will this one work

I think it should be the standard 17mm, so it should work.
That one on summit is made for the full serpentine belt system though. That's not what 1986 fbodies came with.

Re: stewart stage 2 water pump

IMO easier to get the older short pump and use the pump extensions. Your 86 goes clockwise like all the older ones.

Re: 1988 Trans Am Dumping Fuel... Noid light is solid

This is a bad situation for the bottom end of the engine. Better drain the engine out really well and replace with some good oil and filter

Re: Oxygen Sensor

True. Leaky injectors or leaking fuel pressure regulator will do that.
A couple other conditions can also cause it but is less common.

Re: Gonna replace valve seals... New springs and/or Rockers????

That cam lift is too much for stock heads without some modifications. The retainers probably beat up the seals and is why they are bad. The same thing will happen if you put new seals on. If you...

Re: tpi hard start after warm up and setting

yes, highly likely leaking fuel injector/s or bad fuel pressure regulator diaphragm leaking fuel into that little vacuum line. Easy to test for that.

Re: Vacuum secondary or Double pumper?

If you don't race, then a vacuum secondary carb is a good option. Get one with power valve protection so it doesn't blow out, then learn how to tune and adjust the carb. There are some great...

Re: Fuel injector size help

I think the 30 lb injectors would work well in maybe 99% of cases.

The duty cycle is more an issue of high RPM than it is with a peak horsepower number.
With a typical low reving TPI engine...

Re: FIRST build opinions

Can't go wrong with AFR195's.
Pro Yank 3400 is my fav converter by far. Have two of them now.
They aren't like the old converters. No problem with slip at all.

Best window motor upgrades ??

Restoring my 86. Stock window motors are done.
Even new they were always slow like most are.
I would like to upgrade with motors that are not slow.
Suggestions on parts and sources?

Re: Which type of ignition wires for 305 TPI LB9 Engine

Taylor makes some good ones, as well as MSD.
All the ones available will be compatible and not cause any problems. Just do a good job routing them so they don't burn.

Re: Performance Fuel Tank options?

Can't find a good new tank. None plastic. None have baffles.

Two quotes I got to clean and coat mine were $400 an $600.

I didn't expect to run into this kind of problems.

Going through Big Brake Upgrade folks. Just for the front, and the package is around 1k, but now they use C6 calipers because it's basically the same from their perspective.

Re: Upgrade Advice?

Leave the gears alone and get a pro Yank 3400 converter. It's expensive but well worth it in performance, and you won't lose any mileage or have to worry about gears or fixing your speedo.

Hard misfire is when a plug stops firing, you get crossfire in the cap, or a mechanical problems kills a cylinder.

It's plastic, so less corrosion and it's all new. A few little improvements from of the years.
Everybody complains about the 3rdgen replacement tanks not fitting right.
