305 tpi won’t run
What am I missing?
My 88 has sat around for about 3 years only getting cranked a couple times a year. The last time it cranked, it took a while to get it to run. I chalked it up to old gas and weak battery on a low amp charger
A month ago I was ready to bring it into the shop to start the interior refurb and could not get it to start at all. Fuel pump was shot. Changed fuel pump and cleaned tank. Fresh gas, filter etc.
still will not start.
I have correct fuel pressure- verified with gauge on rail.
Getting fire- verified.
Injectors are pulsing- checked with noid light.
It just turns over but will not start. No spit, cough, nothing. Just spinning over.

That was a thought and may be my next course of action. Have only had a few minutes at a time lately to mess with it.

Spray some fuel or starting fluid into the TB (hold open when doing this). Then see if it fires for a short period of time (w/the TB closed). If so then there is a fuel delivery issue.

Re: 305 tpi won’t run
can almost guarantee you have clogged injectors
i had to replace the pump on my Iroc, once that was done i had plenty of pressure at the Rail but the car wouldnt fire, i could get it to fire up on starting fluid and feather the throttle to keep it running but as soon as i let off it would die.
i ran almost a tank of gas with fuel system cleaner through while feathering the throttle now it fires up like normal and will run without me touching the throttle. plan for me is to replace the injectors when i get to that point in the project.

Re: 305 tpi won’t run
It will crank and runnonstarting fluid but nothing without it.
Going to put in new injectors. New for and adding a rail gauge while I am in there. Will probably do tune up while I am in it.
While I had it still on the lift, I did replace the muffler. The muffler and tail pipes I removed had about 1/8” of buildup that looks like baked oil? Car ran fine and did not smoke. Guess I will figure that out after I get it running.
That ls swap is looking better and better every day!
Damn snowball effect.
