Ticking noise

77 350 w holley carb

ive got a ticking noise. sounds like passenger side. valves are adjusted and new copper exhaust gaskets. only does it when car reached running temp. now heres the kicker.......

well had alternator checked five times at five different places. two fail three pass including alt shop again. figured wires are new and checked. battery and starter checked twice. got a used plug...

got alternator tested at another place (just to triple check) and its putting out 14.4

the battery only drains while running. when off volts stay same.

voltage is between 12.3 and 11.8. it goes down as driving. as far as internal of alternator there were two different one installed from alt shop that bench tested putting out over 13.6 volts.

got car started. brought to advance auto for their charging/starting test. got the battery tested then test couldnt continue. said a dropo could cause test not to progress. went home took starter out...

have mm hooked up to wire that leads out of alt to battery. watching will trying to start (with car jumped) volts drop from 12 to 5.5 and doesnt turn over

had new battery checked. had alternator checked at a alternator shop.

heres what i found

Large stud
one wire to plug on alternator (red)
one wire to plug that feeds into relay on passenger side near firewall
two red wires that go into plug through firewall...

still having prob with starting. tries to turn over but not unless i jump it. volts drop low. added another ground today.

ok so got car running after a few times. used SEAFOAM in carb through vac line last night like ive done numerous times in other cars. got smoke out and all. guessing maybe it was still pushing crap...

i marked where the vac advance was and lined up dist with 0 on dampner and rotor was pointing to number one. dropped new dist in. car started up and ran a few times during the day for up to 15 mins...

have meter hooked to wire going to battery terminal of dist. reading 12v. car died a few times and each time still said 12v. was watchjing the whole time so didnt drop then go back

77 350 with HEI Distributor. Had a no spark problem again today. Car running fine now but had to try and wait a bunch of times. It stopped while driving three times but started right back up first...

alt shop had me take my red jumper wire connect it from stud on alternator that has large red wire and connect other end of red jumper to battery red terminal. no change. so that would mean that wire...

if battery is good, alt is good, alt plug (red and brown wires) light test light has to be that ground wire or the red pos wire that goes to alt large stud and battery pos right?

took ground wire...

just brought battery and alternator to be checked at different places. alternator showed bad voltage regulator. guy replaced it. battery showed 94a instead of 800. got new battetry. put in car....

just jumped car. started right up. checked voltage on battery and alternator and its dropping once jumper cables are off. so alternator? battery? both???? couldnt the battery go bad and mess up...
