they all seem to go for around 100$. also, a quick easy(from factory) a car with Z-rated tires will have the alum DS, easiest way IMO if you are unsure, take a magnet with you.

yeah you will have to take the hinge to the hood off(where bolted onto the fender) take the many 10 mm bolts out of the top then you will have 3 (nuts) through the fender into the headlight bar/front...

yes GM requires that dealerships maintain a certain special tool inventory but there are ways around this, ie one owner having 3-4 dealerships and "sharring" tools when the yearly tool inventory...
