Re: my new exhaust.

Sweet tone, love it.

I was thinking of going with a Borla myself, was trying to decide between the Pro XS and the XR1.

Re: BBC 454 for sale or trade (again)

If it was a little closer to spring I'd seriously consider it.

Re: 91 suburban TBI 350

Sounds almost like the same problems I'm having. Are you getting a check engine light? If not, I think checking timing, the TPS, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ect and other sensors.....

And please...

Re: tbi trouble..backfiring, stumble off idle

Ok, well changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, and still a miss. So being lost I took it to a local shop. They tried giving me a doom and gloom scenario of a wiped cam lobe, dropped cylinder, bent...

Re: tbi trouble..backfiring, stumble off idle

Replace the TPS, still have the same problems. However now it seems the idle is getting progressively worse. Under load or about 1/2 gas pedal the engine about kills over. Can't even imagine merging...

tbi trouble..backfiring, stumble off idle

This is a 1992 bone stock 305 tbi setup, except for a K&N filter and a straight pipe exhaust with flowmasters.
On to the problem, it has a hiccup at idle, not real bad but enough you can notice it....

Re: '92 305 TBI vortec head/intake swap Q's

Heads were untouched and the cam is the stocker.

After driving around today I did get a SES light, but it was for the O2 sensor which was easily fixed. Everything else seems pretty darn good now!

Re: '92 305 TBI vortec head/intake swap Q's

Just an update, the head swap was finished last night. Other than having to mess with the exhaust leak at the headers all went well and runs well.
Gas mileage seems the same but has much more get up...

Re: '92 305 TBI vortec head/intake swap Q's

So you were able to make all those changes and it's still driveable and reliable...hmmm. Guess I'll just have to do the swap and see what happens, worst case it will run like crap and I'll just have...

Re: '92 305 TBI vortec head/intake swap Q's

Thanks for the replies!
My main concern was if I was still going to be able to drive the thing if I did put vortec heads on it. Since it's just the 305 TBI I myself figured I wouldn't be getting too...

'92 305 TBI vortec head/intake swap Q's

I have a 92 305 with TBI in good shape, just wondering if a swap to the L31 vortec heads(just the stock ones, no uprated springs or anything like that) and the GMPP TBI/vortec intake would be a giant...

SDPC Vortec heads, upgraded to work with Hotcam: only $300
