It was a bad ECM. Tuned Performance connected me with a good ECM and a reprogramed memcal. Just got the package the other day. Plugged it in and all my troubles went away =)

Wanted: ECM and Memcal for 87' 350 Auto TPI

Ok, so I discovered tonight why my temp gauge wasn't working, the wire wasn't connected to it. :doh: So I reconnected and went for a good drive. I got a consistent gauge reading of around 75 degrees....

Thanks. I crawled around under the hood tonight and finally found the sender. It was under the left side exhaust manifold between the front two spark plugs. Anyways, the sender was there but no wire....

Interesting, that could explain a whole bunch. Since the electric cooling fan is always running, the tranny fluid may never get warm enough to trip the switch.

I have to take a look at the engine...

Another thing that is happening is that the electric cooling fan is always on. Wonder if that is keeping the tranny temps too low???

Stock IROC, running very rich. So much so that if your standing within a 15 foot radius of the car your clothes get saturated with fumes. Can also smell it a little bit while driving with the windows...
