Sounds like lack of fuel or a large vacuum leak.
Check your TBI base gasket.
Also manually work the EGR valve. It could be stuck open.

The converter is not supposed to be bottomed out in the pump.
1/8" clearance is ideal. Use flat washers between to achieve that clearance.
Your flexplate IS installed correctly.

Did you also swap to a vacuum advance distributor?

And if that intake manifold is an Edelbrock Torker II single plane, then this is completely wrong if your engine is stock or nearly so.

I am no expert on this, but I would think that you need a breather somewhere to let "filtered" air in.
Otherwise the vacuum pump could create enough negative pressure to suck in some of the gaskets.

2 piece RMS? Are the seal lips facing the engine?
Did you offset the parting lines?
If YES to all, then remove and clean the rearmost oil pan bolts and apply a sealer to them.

And the 2 center exhaust valves are severely sunk.

Solve your problem by using better heads that have the accessory holes that you need.

skinny z - your distributor is set up the same as mine is - as in NO ICM at all.
The magnetic pickup triggers the MSD box directly. :thumbsup:

That is not the correct plug. You are showing a pipe plug with NPT (tapered) threads.

Your oil pan uses straight threads with a sealing...
