I found the problem, it was a bad Idle Air Control valve, I was able to diagnose it by jumping the top two pins together on the OBD port, if the IACV is working right you should be able to feel it...

Broken ground wire

I have a 1985 firebird 2.8 V6 automatic that wont idle, I found a broken ground wire on the back of the drivers side head, mounted next to the distributor, does anyone know where this wire is...

My brother has an 85 firebird with a 2.8 V6, when we first got the car it wouldn’t idle, when I started working on it I found a missing rubber gasket on the air intake that was making a big vacuum...

I just used a socket with a long extension when I replaced my thermostat, the bolts came out pretty easy putting them in you need to be careful they don't cross thread though

Pushing down on the hatch will line everything up but the motor doesn't pull down any farther and when I let pressure off it goes back to being out of alignment so I don't think it is the hatch motor...
