sounds like a plan. i have an edelbrock RPM airgap manifold part #75013. if that'll work on the 86 engine, i'll toss that on there with the adapter. is there any drawbacks using the air gap manifold...

It all depnds on the parts you use. Building a stock 350 won't cost that much. I'm building a 383 stroker and I expect it be around 4000 by the time its completed.

comp cams actually said they would grind one for me at no extra charge. might be worth the wait if you're concerned about clearance issues. my .570/.576 cam clears everything no problem.

I just did a little simulation with the camquest program on comp cams website. according to them i should be at 504 HP @ 6000 rpm and 491.2ft/lbs torque @4500 RPM. If the actual #'s are anywhere...

i just installed the comp cams xr280r into my 383 today. before i put the gear drive on, i rotated the cam to see if it would hit the connecting rods, and it did. but once i got the timing correctly...

Ok I made some more room for the rods to spin freely. Tomorrow ill put the cam into place to see if there's any clearance issues wiith it.

Well that works for me. I have no problems with running higher octane fuel. Now If I had to run cam2 all the time I would consider making changes to my setup. But 93 and 97 ocane are fine for me.

how about some slightly thicker head gaskets?? as far as elevation, it varies quite a bit up here. anywhere from 500 feet to 2500. living in the pocono region kind of sucks haha.

the torque bar connects to the tailshaft on the transmission. there should be a rubber mount that it slips into, then the mount its self gets bolted to the trans.
