Steering column cover & Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement?

Someone broke into my '89 T/A and tried to punch/hotwire the ignition. (Of course, with VATS and a security system that's really not possible.) But that didn't stop the ignorant scum (I hate...

Re: Main cooling fan problem. + Where do all these relays go?

I did remove the plug from the back of the main fan motor and I stuck my meter into the wire leading to it to see if it was getting the 12v hot signal when it was supposed to. It was not. So I think...

Main cooling fan problem. + Where do all these relays go?

I have a '89 Trans Am 5.7L with dual cooling fans. My main cooling fan is not coming on at all. (The smaller secondary fan does come on when it should at 240 degrees.) What should I be checking to...

Re: My intake manifold is corroded -- what do I replace it with?

My intake manifold actually corroded in 2 places -- around the thermostat and on the back right corner.

FYI: If you want to replace your manifold with a stock GM unit, you won't find it in the...

My intake manifold is corroded -- what do I replace it with?

Turns out not only is my intake manifold gasket shot, but once we took it apart we discovered the intake manifold itself has a lot of corrosion in one corner (there's a small chunk out of it) and...

Re: So how much should I pay to fix a Intake Manifold Gasket?

I'm taking the car in to the mechanic tomorrow to get the compression test and then to get the intake manifold gasket replaced (hopefully that's all it needs). So what's a fair price to pay a...

Re: Bad Intake Manifold Gasket or Blown Head Gasket? Or Both?

I was actually happy when I discovered that the problem might just be the manifold gasket -- and not the head gasket. A bad head gasket seems to be a much bigger, and expensive, thing to fix (I...

Bad Intake Manifold Gasket or Blown Head Gasket? Or Both?

I've had what I thought was a classic head gasket problem: bad smell in the passenger compartment, bad smell from the exhaust pipes, unpredictable temp gauge action, sometimes a boiling, bubbling...

Re: Light above headlamp switch

Ok, I managed to take apart the housing for the light. This is one of those things that just take way too much time. It is tricky prying the thing apart. Anyway, the light is a conventional bulb...

Re: Headlights, Interior Lights and more are all OUT -- What's happening here?

Ok, I did take a look and it was NOT the fusable links. It turned out to be the the giant plug in the engine compartment that plugs into the firewall by the steering column and carries all the wires...

Re: Headlights, Interior Lights and more are all OUT -- What's happening here?

Thanks for the info. I was just calling around to find a fusable link and they dont make it easy. (The woman at the Autozone I just called said "Huh, you're looking for what? A usable link?")...

Re: Headlights, Interior Lights and more are all OUT -- What's happening here?

It looks like my fusable links are by the starter. And why would I want to bypass them? -- Wouldn't I just replace them? And would a bad fusable link explain ALL those things going out?

Thanks
