Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

Sweet. Guess that is something we both will have to check first in the future if this problem ever occurs again.

Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

It does sound like a VATS issue. Did you make sure that the wires to the ignition were ok and not broke. After checking every reference value at the ECM and verified all the wires ok I finally went...

Re: Car will start but wont idle or stay running

Found wires to ignition were broke. Replaced ignition cylinder and car started right up. Guess VATS module will act normal even if it doesn't detect the right key.

Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

After finally finding where the VATS module was, which resulted in puling the dash and finding it on the back of the dash next to the firewall I tested to see if I could get the resistance reading of...

Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

I have found that even if the engine cranks (which I got to by bypassing the relay) that the VATS module may not be sending the right signal. That signal I have not yet figure out. I know its...

Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

alldatapro.com states code 53 is a VATS DTC but doesn't say what code 46 is but my Haynes manual says 46 is a VATS code. Mine has a code 53 so I don't know which one is right.

Re: Daughter's 91 cranks/no start. Away. HELP

I'm having the same problem with my 91 firebird. Will run on starting fluid but injectors won't pulse. But I do know that the VATS module does need to send a 5 volt reference to the ECM that tells...

Re: Car will start but wont idle or stay running

Found what pins are the ground for the ECM and found the ECM has good grounds. So so far these are the things that I know that are good or have swapped to see that they are good

-Fuel pressure (10...

Re: Car will start but wont idle or stay running

Update

Swapped distributors and it still did not make a difference. Injectors aren't seeing a ground from ECM. Anyone have an ECM ground location layout?

The one on the drivers side runs the gauge, the one on the intake is for the ECM and the one on the passenger side runs the high speed fans, low speed is controlled by ECM I believe. You could always...
