Re: Oregon! shout out Where ya at what do ya drive?

Yeah, I'm in Oregon too, specifically Springfield.
I have a '85 Trans Am that's all messed up right now, but it will be fixed before summer is out!

I've noticed there aren't many Oregonians here...

Re: Looking for a Firebird

thanks for the suggestions, guys, but I guess I didn't make myself clear:

Also, extending it to north Cali.

Again, Oregon, Southern...

Re: Looking for a Firebird

I wish I could, but the other side of the country is a bit far for me to travel to look at a car I may\may not be buying.

But thanks for replying!

Re: '85 Trans Am LB9

So we took apart a bit of the engine to start a full tune-up. Replaced the spark plugs and the spark plug wires first, then the distributor cap and rotor, and the condenser. Took off the valve covers...

'85 Trans Am LB9

So I've been having some issues lately with the engine. It pops when I accelerate, and there is a constant clicking noise, similar to a stuck lifter. I used some Marvel Mystery Oil to try and fix it,...

Re: Overheating on the Highway

There is no antifreeze, I never said there was. Currently I'm doing 100% water because it really isn't getting that cold. The radiator is brand new, and has already been flushed once.

Will...

Re: Overheating on the Highway

I said I replaced the airdam with a piece of sheet metal shaped like the stock airdam. I assumed that it was understood. My mistake.

I have shaped a piece of sheet metal to replicate the airdam...

Re: Overheating on the Highway

http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox/tips/cool/overheat-1.htm is the article. I replaced it with a piece of sheet metal shaped to look the same as the stock one.

I don't know how. I never...

Re: Overheating on the Highway

What sort of thermostat should I get here in Oregon? The 170? Or does it not really matter?

I'll probably just replace all the hoses and get a high flow water pump, along with some sort of...

Re: Overheating on the Highway

The water pump is not weeping, and I am not sure how old it is.

The radiator is brand new.

It was overheating before the thermostat, but I assume that it could've been bad and that could be...

Overheating on the Highway

So before posting this I read up on the article talking about how Firebirds and Trans Ams overheat on the highway at 60+ mph because of the airdam. I replaced the airdam, still overheating. I did a...

Now, I'm not here saying that I'm some sort of expert on car audio, but I have been working with my father-in-law in his shop, Loud & Clear Car Audio. He has been installing and working with car...

Re: What year are these wheels?

I'm not sure what size they were, but thanks for the info. I found that picture on the 'Net just to show pattern, the double line as opposed to the single line. I'll be finding out tomorrow what size...

Re: Weak spots on Convertible and ttop bodies

In both my '91 and my '85 (both with T-Tops), I've found the most rust around the T-bar and oddly enough around the back window. Another place to check is around the center console, right under the...

Re: license plate issue

It wasn't dismissed, seeing as it was just a fix-it ticket, which is likely the most anyone will get. I was just posting to say it wasn't as legal as others were saying.

I seriously doubt that...

Re: license plate issue

I don't have any good ideas for mounting, but I may be able to chime in re. front window. I live in Oregon, and my old Toyota's mounting brackets broke off, so we went to the DMV and they said that...

Re: '91 Firebird

So I got it up on four jackstands, and looked around. It looks like the part of the frame that curves under the firewall is "wrinkled" I guess. Best word to described it. Also, the passenger side...

I may not have made myself as clear as I could, so here's a bit of clarification.
The Firebird will not necessarily be big repairs - the problem is finding that out. Basically the only thing still...

Re: '91 Firebird

The problem with the IROC is that the rear end is smashed all to hell. The car itself is only good from the windshield forward.

So really, just trash the V6 and get a new F-body?

'91 Firebird

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to the site, and F-bodies in general. I'm not overly knowledgeable about cars, but I know a bit. I have my father-in-law's car stereo shop to use to do whatever I need to...
