I would get this crate motor if I go with the vortec base. Chevrolet Performance SP350 385 HP Base Long Block Crate Engines 19417624. So you don't think the Vortec base would flow enough for that...

How bad is the tranny, can it move at all? If the engine runs you should be able to test the A/C and most everything other than the drive-train. Check the oil level and color, check all other fluids...

Just a word of advice for ya. If the engine is not running and you can't drive it the tranny could be shot as well. If they ran the engine that hard the tranny will not be far behind if it is good. ...

I lean towards the cold weld due to you will be using it to dill and put screws in. That stuff bonds better and almost seams better than original, once you're done.

I would get something to test...

I would use J-B Weld or a slow cure epoxy. Just remember the faster cure time epoxy will get brittle over time faster than slow cure. I have not seen J-B Weld get brittle. :2cents:
