Need ECM, where to look

Hey guys, I think I need a ECM because the car is acting up....

....where should I look to get a new one?

I've already checked GM Parts Direct's website and I don't think they sell them.

Thanks in advance,

Steven

Just go to a pick your parts place.
The 7730 ECM was used in tons of GM cars. Corsica, Beretta, cutlass, etc. Basically anything with port fuel injection from 90+.
All you have to do is swap in your f-body prom probably cost you $20

Looks like both of our cars are on the fritz lately dude. Sorry to hear about it tho. I've got an LT1 PCM, but I don't think that'll be much help Good luck anyway!

I couldn't find one for my car either, so I went through the dealer. I would only do this if I could not find it anywhere else.

At the time, they charged $198, but had a core charge for the old one.

What is the car doing? It's not often that the computer will go out.

Mine turned out to be that the alternator wasn't putting out enough from the heat and couldn't keep up. This caused poor driveability and poor idle. It will cause a slight stumble or stall off the line while normal driving, once the alternator could spin enough to make the amps (lost from the heat), it would pick up all power. Just and idea man.

Yeah, I should have explained the problem in the initial post....I'm almost 100% sure its the ECM though.

I found one at Autozone for 68 bucks, so I'm gonna go get one a little later.

Okay, so the cars been sitting all night, I hop in it to go to a remote location to do some filming, burnouts, ect.....

I get there, and find a nice spot to take a few pictures, so I turn off the car and take the pictures. I get back in, and turn the key, it turns over, and sputters, so I hold down the gas a little (not uncommon for my car to do this).....but the problem was the check engine light stayed on. So now im thinking, crap, stupid car and I pull out my laptop, after its all pluged in and set to scan the ALDL, I turn the key forward to look for codes, It gives me about 8 of them, including ECM/PROM errors. So after cursing at the car for about an hour I drive it home in limp-home mode and burn a new chip. After the car sat for about an hour at my apartment while i was messing with the chip, it stated up with no check engine lights. I was like 'cool, it was just the chip' so I head back out to do the filming again, but on the way I had to stop for gas. After fueling up i start him up again, and *(@#$*(# check engine light again. This time i try to scan it and get no ALDL connection. So, no ECM communication with laptop, no speedo, no IAC control, no timing control, horrible air/fuel mix.......i'm 99% sure its the ECM.

any ideas/comments?

I'm gonna try and pull any codes it might have using the paperclip on my next break and see if that will tell me anything.....

....im about to just burn the #$%#$^ to the ground and collect insurance.

a mountain bike is starting to look pretty apealing at this point

yes, i've put in my custom chip and moates adapter, and also just the stock memcal, no difference.

I just went out and jumpered a&b, all I'm getting is a 12 over and over......

I tried to start it and its almost like there is no spark......just cranks with no reaction from the motor.

im out of ideas, I'll probably get it towed to the shop tomorow morning.

anyone want a z28 cheap?
