My car will be getting some attention this weekend, going to try and fab up an idler pully to move the belt over so i can mount my turbo where the AIR pump used to be, and also so I can hang the turbo off the old AIR pump bracket and take the stress off of the hotside

My 21st is pointless... I am stationed in Japan, and the drinking age is 20... I turned 20 a week after I got here. So nothing will be new for my 21st.

The drinking age in Texas was 19 (when I turned 19), they raised it to 21 three months before I turned 21. So I had been able to drink legally for almost 2 years, then I couldn't for 3 months, then I was legal again.

I drank before I turned 21 for a few years. Funny thing is after I turned 21 it didn't seem the same. Guess its because I was legally doing it.

but damn you make me feel old, i've had my Monte Carlo longer than you've been around. 21 was 30 plus years ago for me.
i remember 21,... i think i could legally drink at 18, but was able to buy without a problem at 15.
enjoy your youth, it will pass you by much faster than you can even guess.

hey everybody! sorry i've been MIA for a couple weeks finals consumed my life but they're all over now so I'm gonna have a nice couple weeks off before the summer semester starts

I definitely could use some crew!
I have had one delay after another getting my boat in the water.
Last Saturday was a fiasco of humorous proportions, that finally ended up with me loading the boat back on to the trailer and taking it home because the motor wouldn't start.
I hope to get the motor going and try again in a week or so.

After that...my brother just bought a canal house on Padre Island, so I'll hopefully be spending some time down there this summer.

BTW, you ever hear of the Texas 200?

The problem is I was putting in on the north side of the 146 bridge with the wind out of the south at 20 kts. Tacking down a narrow, rock lined channel, straight into the wind isn't much fun.

The house is on N.Padre but is still a nice base camp for some sailing.

Texas 200 (texas200.com) is an annual 5 day cruise from SPI to (roughly) Victoria.
My brother is looking at doing it in his Sparrow 16 and I'm hoping to make it in my MacGregor. The thing about the Texas 200 is you need a shallow draft boat to have any hope of getting out of the ICW.

If I get a pump installed to dump my water ballast, my 26x only draws 9", so, while a little on the large size, it should be a decent choice for the cruise.

yeah that ramp is one of the hardest ones to use in the area, the south side ramp under the kemah bridge is a lot more open.

that sounds pretty cool, i did a similar race the that on a Hobie 16, 75 miles a day, 2 days from SPI to corpus. it was a great time!

Time is getting short for making this years cruise (mid June), but I'm determined to make next years. I just need a little sailing experience with my boat between now and then. So far, every time I've been out I've broken something... So I want to get a few "failure free" cruises under my belt before I head off for 5 days away from any help.

I'm gonna be in Austin tomorrow, and either in c-stat Saturday night or in Houston, then Houston again by sunday until pretty much the end of may. i need to find a job in c-stat for the summer so i need to get up there and drop off some resumes sooner than later, I'm considering stopping for the night on my way back from austin

I'm thinking about getting a slip on one of the new floating piers at Watergate (10 or 11). They are big for my boat (40') but they are renting them at the 35' rate right now and since it will only be for a month, I figure I might as well get a nice spot.
