Noone seems to have the answer to my question

okay i will post it here since noone seems to help in the General car forums....my car wont idle, it sputters and tries to stay alive but dies...car has a hard time starting, sputters, revs up, then dies....if i keep pressing on the gas it kinda stays running but as soon as i let go it dies. If i put it in drive while running it barely moves...top speed of 35 then it eventually shuts off regardless of how much i press on the gas.....car is stranded right now as it is somewhere near Las Cruces, NM about 15 away from my house...i was test driving it ...aay dumbass me...well can anyone help or have a vague idea as to what it could be...i have posted this issue three times already and noone responds......sssooo...i figured i might as well post it here..car is killing me....

can u give us a list of things/componets you have replaced on the car? Such as starter, alt, emissions equipment. My guess is that it could be the fuel pump, have you replaced this recently? This sounds kinda like what happened to me when my cars fuel pump went out. I could get it to start, kinda hard, then it would run but if i pressed to gas too much or got going to fast it died.

MAF sensor? I remember my old '85 T/A did that. It ran horribly and sputtered. Fuel mileage went south as well. Maybe you have it disconnected, or something. Check all connections and like Matt said, maybe you did something working on the car.

If I where you I'd look at spark, namely the ignition control module. Napa can test it for free and its ez to replace. Is the car setting codes?

Is the check engine light on and if so have you been able to pull any codes? If the light is on and you can't pull any codes then the computer has probably died on you. They run very poor in limp home mode and the more mods you have the worse it will run. If not that then I would look at the fuel pump and filter.

fuel pump, fuel filter (easy fix) bad gas? I had a similar issue with mine, I unplugged the vapor recovery canister and the hoses and it drove ok until I got the bad gas out of it...

As far as parts i replaced the IAC valve and the MAF sensor...as far as fuel pump and filter...well the guy i bought it from he had the fuel pump replaced (when i bought the car he gave me the muffler in my hands since he never had the muffler welded back on after replacing the pump) and as far as ignition thats what i was thinking of doing next...i will be replacing the spark plugs and wires, i will take the module to get checked at NAPA (didnt know they test it for free) and i will check for codes tomorrow (thats how i knew to replaced the MAF in the first place) but it did not throw anymore codes other than the bad MAF which it comes on now after replacing the MAF.... ssooo....i will check what is the problem now and check the entire ignition for problems...also i need to check the fuel pressure relieve lines... i think thats what they are...one goes from the PFR to the passenger side of the plenum and the other from that same side to the actual fuel line....and also i was told that there are three of them and the other is on the other side of the plenum...dont know for sure but i will be checking them as well...thanx for the help and tips...i will keep posting as i make progress or regress...

When the car "shuts off" does it just go dead or does it spit and sputter?

The MAF burnoff relays tend to go out pretty often which will also give you MAF codes. Unless your engine is heavily modified the MAF not working doesn't make it run that bad. They are usually still drivable without it working.

well finally fixed the damn thing....after soooo much freaking trouble i finally got the problem...i replaced the injectors, maf, IAC valve, spark plugs/wires, did a tune up and to top everything off I also found a bad fuel pump!!! i arrived to this conclusion after replacing the above parts and oohhh as well as the fuel filter and since the car still kinda sputtered i was like...could it, possibly, he said it was new and stuff. So since i have never, ever, seen or done something like this i took it to one of my brothers friends shop and had him do the work, i just watched and was glad i did not do it myself without first having seen it done cuz to me it looked like a royal pain and in the azztrodamus. he did all the work and i just learned so as to save myself next 120.00 bones. I thought that was cheap dont know for sure how much something like this would cost. anyways car is running good so know i would like to have a question answered. Would the vortec heads off a 97 Chevy 1500 work on a my camaro if i used the SDPC intake manifold with their EGR kit and if so should i use the regular plenum and runners or use ported plenum and Hi Flo runners. Thanks
