Before the 3rd gen...
Before you ever got a 3rd gen, what was your first vehicle?
Figure it would be an interesting thread to see what ya people sported around town before tearin up the streets with a 3rd gen.
I drove a 03 Galant. Had it for four years before it got totaled. Now I'm a proud owner of an 87 camaro. Had it for 3 years already and counting

Re: Before the 3rd gen...
Well usually before 3 comes a 2, so my 2nd gen Camaro, which is faster than your pink lug nut Camaro.

Re: Before the 3rd gen...
Well, lets see... First car was '77 toyota pickup, then '86 nissan pickup (New.) then '69 Z-28 (Wish I'd kept that one, but was young and stupid...) Then '88 mustang GT, then '88 IROC, then '92 chevy crew-cab dually... and many more over the years. Those are just a few of my favorites. Never owned a second gen and didnt keep my 4thgen long (9 months).

My first car was a '86 Mercury Sable wagon, then a '78 Z28, '86 IROC 5.0 TPI, '89 IROC 5.7 TPI, '97 S10 New, '94 Nissan Sentra, '91 Z28 1LE 5.7 (still have), '97 Camaro V6, '96 Z28 LT1, 2 '90 Toyota Pickups, '94 Toyota 4x4 V6, and a '07 Silverado (still have also). And I'm "only" 34.

Re: Before the 3rd gen...
the only car i'm proud of having was an 84 rx7 that i had for a week. all other cars were boring, and there are 2 in my least that you guys would hunt me down and shank me for having. i did have an 88 grand marquis i recently parted ways with. sure, its a ford, but it was a damn good car. it was my art project too.
i like talking about cars i want though! i want a nice beater 4 banger for a second more fun DD. maybe an old mr2 (haha) or something with the mighty IRON DUKE! and came across an 82 rabbit for sale. it would be more of an art project, and something to drive so i can put more work in to the usual DD.
and once i get back home... i plan on hunting down a 2nd gen.

Re: Before the 3rd gen...
The '69? Traded it in on a new BMW 325i vert in '94. (The ex-wife wanted one and who was I to tell her 'no'? LOL)
At the time, it was just an old car with no A/C and I hadnt really driven it in years. Just sat in the garage...
The prices skyrocketed in '99 and thats when I began to regret it. They are still cheap in VA where my wife is from...

1971 Chevelle Malibu (loved that car) wrecked by drunk driver..
1971 Ford LTD 2dr 400 C6, paid $300 for it. Was ugly as hell and didn't have a straight panel on it but was absolutely indestructible.
Love my IROC..

Between $500 and $2,000 depending on weather or not they run. For those prices they will have some rust (Usually trunk, sail panels, floor, but not rusted through in most cases.) They also will not be "Numbers-matching, in most cases. I guess you could say... "Project cars".

The trick is to drive the "Back roads" and keep your eyes open. When you spot one, go up to the house and start low ($250.oo or so for "That old chevy".) And work your way up. If you have 2k in your pocket you should score one. Next time I go back to visit my wifes family I'm going to make an offer on a '69 Z-28 vert I saw.

Re: Before the 3rd gen...
91 Metallic Black Cherry 2dr Dodge Shadow. Only had a 4 banger, but I loved the hell out of that car. I got it in 96 (16yrs old) with 82k, it died at 195k in 2002. It was in 2 accidents, fixed both times and since it was a base model I upgraded the outside each time with something new...spoiler, hood, etc...had an awesome stereo system in it that i was told even though it was bargain components, it put out competion quality sound. Who knows, if the internals of the water pump didnt give out and it didnt overheat, I might still have it somewhere in my 'fleet' of vehicles. I sold it to a junk yard for $50 and got on the credit map with a 95 nissan truck. At the same time I had the Shadow I also got a 67 camaro(maybe 99) So I guess it counts too. It was wrecked(in 01, not my fault) and I never got around to fixing it. Just needed a front clip. I sold it for $700 which was exactly what I needed for a down payment on my house. Found it in the auto trader the very next week for $2k.
