1987 Camaro Z28 Engine Build

Looking for insight on what build I should do for my Z28...she's old but in great shape body wise. The engine blew out and I'm looking to totally transform her into a beast of a machine. Any suggestions on what build would be best for Power and Speed?

My thoughts exactly. I would go with a LS2 style build. (6.0 liter). Not too crazy expensive, makes more power, and you might even get better fuel economy to boot, depending on how you build and tune it. But that's just me...

Easiest build would be a 5.3. Thousands of trucks in yards around the valley with those.

Absolutely! I have one laying around that I picked up for $400 for my son's project truck. Great little motors. I also have a 6.0 (Lq4) that's going into my '89 GTA. Both are terrific motors. Little more pricey than a regular sbc build, and a bit more work to get them to function, but we will be happier with the results.

You will have to call around to some of the"premium" yards. If you notice, there are less and less of the'07-'13 trucks out there. They are getting wrecked everyday.

There are usually 5 or 6 of the 5.3s on Facebook Marketplace for $1000 - 1200 for complete takeouts from pan to intake with accessories, wiring, ECM with around 120k miles on them.
