Car Show, Cruise, BBQ, Canyon Run, and Dinner!?!?!?

I think its time that we all had a get together, how about some suggestions, who, what, when, where…

Oh and if you are one of those people that likes to talk and constantly suggest but never participate, post at your own risk. It will get ugly…

How about a Carlsbad or LACR Meet and BBQ. Can we do BBQ on the parking lot?

Lets all meet in a parking lot (show part), then go canyon carving scoring points for all roadkill and venicin hit (competition/cruise part) and through a big BBQ at the other side and eat the roadkill (Dinner part).

Im glad some idea's are brewing here, i was wondering when we would do something again. its seemed slow lately....I like the idea of a show, cruise/canyons then end with a BBQ

Amazing response guys thank you. However Hooters is definitely out of the question. I think we all can do without mediocre food, erroneous servers, and quite frankly an all out pickle party (I know much better places for that).

It looks like a BBQ and a Cruise/Canyon Run is where it’s at. Now lets talk about length and location. San Diego, Ventura, Palms Springs?

Sounds good, but this time you will have to put up with one G-body.

I started wondering today what kind of reactions would come from some members if the destination was Chippendales.

I have this idea for a run but don't know if I can find the time to put it together, maybe someone else has done it and already knows the time/distance.

Anyway, met at the 15 and hwy 138 on Cajon Pass, then 138 to Angeles Crest hwy, hwy 2, all the way to Pasadena, then down into LA, I know a neat palce to eat with 2 parking lots and a guard..
I can supply maps from the end of hwy2 to the food.

Another idea for this time of year, and the ladies like it, is a desert wildflower cruise, but I don't have a clue as to where to drive this one.

If you want to see desert wildflowers, you would take the 78 east (san diego county) past Julian to Anza... a really long trip and there isn't a town there, not even a public restroom. (There's a big rock, though.)
I was just in the local hills this weekend and it's pretty nice and green because of the weather, I'm sure anywhere is good.

Maybe we can select a route by distance. The route I had in mind is roughly 300 miles from start to finish, and takes about six hours to complete. So count on burning up at least a full tank of fuel and being behind the wheel for the majority of the day. Let me know what you guys think…

Dwaynes idea is good. It's a long day for the southern members but the falls is a neat place.

I don't mind a 300 mile run, but I need to fill up about every 200 miles. It's pretty and fast but it won't pass a gas station.

Hey Mike,

1997 CTRII 2hrs 7min from Ranch Cucamonga to Vegas (car had to be in a booth at SEMA before end of load in 2001). I was the passenger (more like navigator) and to call it intense would be a gross understatement. It was cool for about the first 15 minutes, after that it was just plain wrong. I consider myself to be a little off in the head and maybe even crazy at times, but let me tell you, my nuts were deep in my stomach. I was plain ****ing scared. I will never do anything like that again.

That's definitely a "Go to jail, go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200" deal. Not to mention Hwy 15 is one of the deadliest roads in the country.

On my last trip back in October, I came up on a Ford Explorer that had just left the road and was sitting upside down on the side of the highway. There were already a dozen or so people who had stopped to offer assistance so I kept moving. Shortly after a CHP cruiser went screaming up the highway in route to the T/A.

I tried to find info. on the crash after I got home but none was available. I suspect someone was seriously hurt. The roof of the truck was pretty pancaked over the front seats.

Sounds like one of the times I made a Vegas run ... but fully wasted, with two passengers (one (the owner) over 6'-4") in a F*rd Festiva. Speedo was almost at 0 MPH. :sillylol: You want to talk about some serious drifting! We (or should I say 'I') didn't beat 'your' record, but we came close. This was from Palmhell to the Strip ... and that was both going and coming. :sillylol:

We should have a meet at

Sonics to talk about what every one has in mind. How far can they go and so forth, A day that would best fit every one, and etc.

And I get popped for doing 87mph. Compared to you guys, I was driving like someone's grandma.

Of course the fact that I was driving a rented F**d Ranger with a locking cover over the bed probably contributed to my being stopped.

Branden, you won't be able to please everyone. I say just plan it, who ever can attand will, who ever cannot won't. Simple.

Bret, remember (or I should have said) this was done at 2:00 AM (going) and 10:00 AM (returning).

Kid's, don't do this at home ... or anywhere for that matter!

I haven't posted to this thread because I don't see myself having time to do anything for the forseable future. I'm so tired of working every Saturday! I'm posting this to suggest that you should ask if anyone would like someone to ride along. Most of these guys will be going on any cruise alone, and would probably be glad to fill the passenger seat with a fellow third gen fan.

Just a little FYI that I just read about in Road & Track the other day, a site called http://www.madmaps.com ...It supposed to be full of all sorts of canyon crusing roads we could check out... Road & Track said that a few of there "proving grounds" are listed too...

I really havent had time to even look at the site- Today Im getting may Wisdom teeth out So Ill be out of it for the next 3-4 days, so someone could check it out and report back...Wish me luck!

That's because females are used to having their mouths wide open.
Men prefer to think.

One thing is for sure - she won't be talking for a few days.

I speak from experience. And you don't want to know my experience with wisdom teeth removal. I will say Codine is cool.
